Carolina Panthers @ Buffalo Bills
Sunday 18:00
Two teams that suffered narrow yet encouraging losses to top opposition in their openers. The Panthers were one DeAngelo Williams fumble away from upsetting Seattle whilst The Bills scared New England. Both teams' posses an aggressive pass rush and whichever QB deals with the heat best will come out on top. EJ Manuel impressed last week despite small numbers and should improve at home but Cam Newton holds the key to this game. If he can use his legs to good affect the Panthers win in Buffalo.
Recommended Bets: Panthers @ 1.784/5
Cleveland Browns @ Baltimore Ravens
Sunday 18:00
After being embarrassed by the Broncos in the season opener the Ravens will be hungry to put in a big performance in their first home game. For The Browns the focus will be to protect the unconvincing Brandon Weeden, he was mauled by Miami last week. Expect both teams to go heavy on the run with Rice and Richardson. The reigning champs are a shadow of their former selves but should easily have enough for their first W.
Recommended Bets: Ravens @ 1.351/3
Dallas Cowboys @ Kansas City Chiefs
Sunday 18:00
Romo's Cowboys roll into Arrowhead after a hard fought win over the Giants looking to continue their good start. The Chiefs' began with a much easier assignment as they walked all over the Jags. Andy Reid got the win and Alex Smith made a solid start for his new team but Jamaal Charles got roughed up, his fitness is key to Sunday as Smith will not find his work easy with the likes of DeMarcus Ware hunting him. Romo should look to Bryant more this week alongside Austin and Witten.
Recommended Bets: Chiefs @ 1.674/6
Miami Dolphins @ Indianapolis Colts
Sunday 18:00
This should be tight. The Dolphins' defensive line looked explosive last week and Tannehill was quietly efficient whereas the Colts just shaded an encounter with the Raiders that they were expected to stroll. Andrew Luck was tidy but threw for under 200 yards in the opener, he will want to improve his numbers, if so he'll need protection from Cameron Wake and co. The Dolphins could cause an upset here with a second road win, especially if Mike Wallace gets in on the action.
Recommended Bets: Dolphins @ 2.35/4
Minnesota Vikings @ Chicago Bears
Live on Sky Sports 2
Sunday 18:00
The Vikings travel to Soldier Field on Sunday needing more from their quarterback, Christian Ponder looked severely under confident last week and threw three picks. The Bears got off to a good start winning over a strong Cincy team and the Jay Cutler to Brandon Marshall combination looks lethal. Barring a huge game from Peterson this looks unlikely for Minnesota.
Recommended Bets: Bears @ 1.412/5
San Diego Chargers @ Philadelphia Eagles
Sunday 18:00
The Chargers travel to Philly after a heartbreaking loss to Houston in which they threw away a seventeen point lead in the fourth quarter. Rivers looked sensational for the first half and threw four TDs but then gave away a crucial interception which was the catalyst for collapse. The Eagles looked exciting under new coach Chip Kelly, his up tempo offence is the talk of the league and with Michal Vick back to his best and LeSean McCoy in the backfield they're going to be tough to shut down. Should be a lot of points but the Eagles will fly the highest.
Recommended Bets: Eagles @ 1.351/3
St Louis Rams @ Atlanta Falcons
Sunday 18:00
A loss to the Saints will have disappointed the Falcons but they showed a lot of potential. They have a new dimension to their offence with Steven Jackson in the backfield and Matt Ryan now has better options. Roddy White and Julio Jones are crucial and carry injuries but should make Sunday. St Louis showed huge heart to rally back to win in the fourth last week and their defence is strong, look out for Robert Quinn after his monstrous first outing. Bradford relied on Jared Cook too much and expect the exciting Travis Austin to be involved more this time. It'll be a tough one but it's inevitable Jackson will haunt his former employees.
Recommended Bets: Falcons @ 1.392/5
Tennessee Titans @ Houston Texans
Sunday 18:00
The Titans capitalised on a truly horrific day for the Steelers last week to grab a win but in truth showed little on offence and relied on a running attack to pound the yards. Their defence however is sturdy and will not give in easy against the Texans on Sunday. Houston started sloppy last week but improved as their game evolved. They have such an embarrassment of riches that it has become a problem with their players squabbling over game time, Arian Foster complained this week about sharing the load with Ben Tate. It's the kind of problem you want.
Recommended Bets: Texans @ 1.251/4
Washington Redskins @ Green Bay Packers
Sunday 18:00
Two good teams that lost the opener. The Redskins looked below their best last week and RG3 still seemed understandably hampered by his recent injury and lack of game time. As the season progresses he will only improve and Washington will be a force on offence but they can't afford Alfred Morris to be giving up fumbles, that was probably a one, well two, off. The Packers narrowly lost to the 'Niners, painful but forgivable. Rodgers looks as classy as ever but they lack a running game, won't matter as the passing game won't be stopped. Clay Mathews return to the D against San Fran was good to see. Expect to see the Packers go on a winning run.
Recommended Bets: Packers @ 1.330/100
Detroit Lions @ Arizona Cardinals
Sunday 21:05
Big win for the Lions last week and what a shrewd signing Reggie Bush could be. 191 all purpose yards on his debut, his skill set is hard to find. His input and the Stafford to 'Megatron' combination and the Lions offence suddenly looks A-grade. Arizona can also put some numbers up, Carson Palmer to Larry Fitzgerald started well and the addition of Mendenhall will help. This'll be a shoot out. Lions to edge it.
Recommended Bets: Lions @ 1.8910/11
New Orleans Saints @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Sunday 21:05
Sean Payton got the win on his comeback in the Superdome last week and the Saints look reinvigorated. It's the same old tried and tested offence with Drew Brees still throwing bullets, why change it. Tampa will suffer to contain him as long as he doesn't aim anywhere near Darrelle Revis. The Buccaneers have targets such as Vincent Jackson and Mike Williams but Josh Freeman is running out of chances to find them, does he really deserve the spot? Rusher Doug Martin should find more holes this Sunday and if Freeman has one of his good days they could cause the upset.
Recommended Bets: Buccaneers @ 2.526/4
Denver Broncos @ New York Giants
Live on Sky Sports 2
Sunday 21:25
Manning bowl and big bro looks set to claim it. Rarely has a team put out such an emphatic marker in the opening game of a season as Denver did last week against the reigning champs. Peyton was on fire throwing for seven TDs and in the triple threat set of receivers of Thomas, Welker and Decker they look unstoppable. The Giants lost the opener in Dallas but Eli looked sharp too, completing a hatrick of TD passes to Victor Cruz. The Big Blue have still got a decent roster but the sprawling aggressive defence has faded and they lack a running game. Cant's see passed Peyton's Broncos though this time.
Recommended Bets: Broncos @ 1.51/2
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Oakland Raiders
Sunday 21:25
Not a lot of quality to get excited about for this one. Whereas the Jags only managed a couple of points last week the Raiders at least showed some promise in a narrow loss to the Colts. Terrelle Pryor started that game for the Raiders and despite being fairly unsuccessful in the air managed to gain over a hundred on the ground. For Jax Chad Henne comes in to be given a rare opportunity. It's ugly so I'll lean towards the homers.
Recommended Bets: Raiders @ 1.42/5
San Francisco 49ers @ Seattle Seahawks
Monday 01:30
Game of the weekend, huge NFC West showdown between the 49ers and the Seahawks. San Fran got a big win over the Packers last week and seem to have developed from a primarily defensive team to an attacking unit. Anquan Boldin showed he still earns his keep and Kaepernick will try and use him again although he can expect double coverage in Seattle. The Seahawks edged a real tough matchup against the gritty Panthers last week without impressing much but expect a bigger performance back home. The stadium will be deafening and Pete Carroll will want to control the ball with Marshawn Lynch and a pounding running game, unmissable. I thought the 'Niners were great last week but you can't go against Seattle at home.
Recommended Bets: Seahawks @ 1.738/11
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cincinnati Bengals
Tuesday 01:40
Monday Night Football and an AFC North battle between the depleted Steelers and the improving Bengals. It's painful to watch what's happening in Pittsburgh, loosing Wallace and Mendenhall in the offseason hurt. Loosing the legendary linebacker James Harrison hurt more. The top rookie running back Le'Veon Bell getting injured and being sidelined for the first six weeks didn't help. Then first day of the season and three crucial starters are ruled out for the year. Who cast the spell? The Bengals though have reason for optimism despite losing their opener after holding a significant lead. Andy Dalton to AJ Green is always reliable but with the Steelers so banged up they may test other routes.
Recommended Bets: Bengals @ 1.351/3
