NFL Tipping Sheet: Week Five Previews and Moneyline Picks

Rivers is enjoying a hot streak and the Chargers offence is looking potent...

Week five in the NFL and four teams still have perfect records but how long will they last? Reuben Thomas takes a brief look at each game...

'Phillip Rivers is playing out of his skin and threw for over 400yards last week. The Chargers have a new offensive style and it’s paying dividends, expect their success to continue in the Coliseum.'

Baltimore @ Miami
Sunday 18:00

Both teams coming off a loss but on different trajectories. The Ravens lack a passing game and Ray Rice has so far been unproductive at running back, what they do still possess is a pass rush. That's bad news for Miami QB Tannehill who has already hit the deck eighteen times, he lacks protection but the Dolphins should have enough to continue their impressive start.
Recommended Bet: Dolphins @ 1.728/11

Detroit @ Green Bay
Sunday 18:00

Top matchup from the NFC North. The Lions look hot, the addition of Reggie Bush has given Detroit a new dynamic, it's not just all about Megatron. The Packers are struggling to protect Rodgers but have had a bye to get their game plan right, if they can stop Ndamukong Suh it'll be a start, expect the hosts to edge a scorefest.
Recommended Bet: Packers @ 1.331/3

Jacksonville @ St Louis
Sunday 18:00

Ugly, the Jaguars have nothing, they're already thinking about next year's draft, maybe they need to move to London? The Rams have been largely disappointing also but still have the potential to turn it around, a start would be to get Tavon Austin involved more, he's got the moves to beat defenders in open field.
Recommended Bet: Rams @ 1.192/11

Kansas city @ Tennessee
Sunday 18:00

Two surprisingly good teams meet in this one. New Chiefs QB Alex Smith has been a revelation at both passing and running and Jamaal Charles is proving the all-purpose back. The Titans will miss the injured Jake Locker and will be reliant on their intense pass defense. Should be tight but the Chiefs can go to 5-0.
Recommended Bet: Chiefs @ 1.768/11

New England @ Cincinnati
Sunday 18:00

Despite their injury problems the Patriots have won their first four but the news that Vince Wilfork's Achilles injury may end his season will be a big blow to the Pats defense. Belichick will improvise as always and Brady is as reliable as ever but they may find it tough in Cincy. The Bengals suffered a set back in a loss to the Browns last week but have some outstanding weapons, this could be the week they loosen the ropes on the offence.
Recommended Bet: Bengals @ 1.981/1

New Orleans @ Chicago
Sunday 18:00

Only one loss between these two so far and this should be a shoot out. The Saints bring their powerful offence to Chi-Town and Brees will continue to look no further than the seemingly unstoppable jimmy Graham. The Bears are doing well looking after Cutler at Soldier Field and expect them to produce big numbers in the passing game also, after a tough loss last week expect the bears to get back on track.
Recommended Bet: Bears @ 2.0621/20

Philadelphia @ NY Giants
Sunday 18:00

Two NFC East teams that have endured disappointing starts, the Giants are still winless, turnovers are killing them and they're failing to give Eli any time to find receivers. They still have the potential for a dangerous offence but their offensive line needs to step up. Philadelphia are 1-3 but have showed promise, the no huddle office is exciting to watch and the running game is performing, LeSean McCoy leads the league. The Eagles weakness is on defence, they fail to put pressure on opposing QBs and this could be the week Eli finally finds some room.
Recommended Bet: Giants @ 1.875/6

Seattle @ Indianapolis
Sunday 18:00

Big game in Indy as the Colts welcome the Seahawks. The Colts have brought in RB Trent Richardson to cover for Bradshaw's injury and help ease the pressure on Andrew Luck and his receivers. An easy win over the Jaguars last week took the Colts to 3-1 but they are set for an almighty test on Sunday. The Colts surely pose one of the most fearsome offences in the league but Luck has not faced defensive backs like Seattle's before and the man coverage will see all his usual targets shutdown. The unbeaten Seahawks will rely on their outstanding defence and the running of Marshawn Lynch. Stopping Lynch is key for the home team, that and some inspired play from their QB. Good Luck Andrew.
Recommended Bet: Seahawks @ 1.758/11

Carolina @ Arizona
Sunday 21:05

Carolina coming off the bye head to the desert to face the Cardinals. The Panthers have a loosing record but have shown a desire that was missing last year. Cam Newton has been running so far but this week he'll want to have a big passing day and should get the opportunities against the Cards, this was the scene of Newton's record breaking passing day in his rookie season. With Palmer, Mendenhall and Fitzgerald on offence Arizona have the capability to score big on anyone but their offensive line has let them down. Carson Palmer is the kind of QB that likes to look for the deep threat but will need time and the key to this game is how Arizona handles the panthers aggressive pass rush.
Recommended Bet: Cardinals @ 2.166/5

Denver @ Dallas
Sunday 21:25

Peyton's Broncos roll into Dallas on Sunday looking to continue their perfect start. The Broncos' offence has been unstoppable so far and any plans to stop Peyton seem futile. Instead the Cowboys will have to try to outscore their opponents, expect to see a lot of Des Bryant this week, he has started the season well and Romo should look to him more. Not a lot of running game expected from either team as this should turn into an old school shoot out. Hard to bet against the Broncos.
Recommended Bet: Broncos @ 1.321/3

Houston @ San Francisco
Monday 01:30

Late game on Sunday and it'll be physical between two teams that are 2-2 but are better than their record. The Texans suffered a gut wrenching loss to the Seahawks last week and Matt Schaub has come under intense criticism, how he responds may define the Texans season. The 49ers cruised passed the rams last week and should be confident back at Candlestick. With two of the best pass defences on show expect the running plays to be plentiful. Gore and Kaepernick should seal this one for San Fran.
Recommended Bet: 49ers @ 1.392/5

San Diego @ Oakland
Monday 04:35

Good luck staying up for this one, it's been rearranged to accommodate the baseball playoffs. After last week's performance against the Cowboys you have to side with the Chargers, Phillip Rivers is playing out of his skin and threw for over 400 yards last week. The Chargers have a new offensive style and it's paying dividends, expect the success to continue in the Coliseum.
Recommended Bet: Chargers @ 1.4740/85

NY Jets @ Atlanta
Tuesday 01:40

Monday night football comes from the Georgia Dome and Atlanta will want to get back to winning ways after the close loss to the Pats last week. The Falcons were fancied before the season started but have already suffered 3 losses. Matt Ryan and his receivers are too good to keep quiet and expect them to put a marker down on prime time. The Jets have had a mixed start but Geno Smith seems to be wobbling and this may be a learning season for him.
Recommended Bet: Falcons @ 1.222/9
