We're into week five of the NFL already, and the guys at Abelson Info have briefly previewed all the weekend's fixtures including recommended bets...
Atlanta Falcons @ Washington Redskins - Sunday 18:00
Matt Ryan has the Falcons soaring, they're the only team left in the league with a perfect record and the Redskins don't have a strong enough defence to slow them down. Washington look hot on offence and their rushing game is producing the numbers but they may loose out in a high scoring showdown.
Recommended Bet: Atlanta -3.5
Baltimore Ravens @ Kansas City Chiefs - Sunday 18:00
The outstanding Jamaal Charles will face his toughest test of the season against the infamous Baltimore defensive line on Sunday, Ray Lewis' crew haven't dominated a game yet this season but after a decent break should be ready to perform against the Chiefs running game. Flacco may have trouble in a hostile environment at Arrowhead but is still a lot more reliable than Cassel.
Recommended Bet: Baltimore - 6.5
Cleveland Browns @ New York Giants - Sunday 18:00
The reigning champs against the winless Browns, sounds straight forward but it isn't. Eli has developed a lethal understanding with Victor Cruz and the Giants passing game will continue to rack up the yards but the Browns are nearing a result. They've lost tough games by small margins and in Trent Richardson have an all purpose running back that can trouble any team. A big handicap may get them over the line.
Recommended Bet: Cleveland + 9.5
Green Bay Packers @ Indianapolis Colts - Sunday 18:00
The Colts play their first game since receiving the harrowing news of their head coach's illness, it'll be an emotional atmosphere in Indianapolis on Sunday. It's a pity that rookie QB Andrew Luck and his team don't have an easier team than the Packers to play. The Packers still aren't firing on all cylinders but are slowly improving and should have a winning record by the end of this one.
Recommended Bet: Green Bay -7.5
Miami Dolphins @ Cincinnati Bengals - Sunday 18:00
Miami should have won more than one game by now, in Brian Hartline they have a target who is top of the receiving yards table, they have Reggie Bush in the backfield and have the number one rush defence in the league. The problem is their secondary has huge holes in it. If Andy Dalton can find AJ Green regularly then the Dolphins will suffer. This could be a thriller but the win should go to the Bengals.
Recommended Bet: Cincinnati -3.5
Philadelphia Eagles @ Pittsburgh Steelers - Sunday 18:00
What happened to the Steel Curtain? Injuries is the answer and this weekend sees the return of star safety Troy Polamalu and the first appearance of the season of linebacker and captain James Harrison. Add to that the return of starting running back Mendenhall and you can expect the Terrible Towels to be waving this Sunday. Pennsylvanian neighbours Philly have scraped wins in some close games and have looked solid on both sides of the ball but the spoils should go to the hosts in this one.
Recommended Bet: Pittsburgh -3.5
Chicago Bears @ Jacksonville Jaguars - Sunday 21:05
The Jags need a win but this match up couldn't have suited them less. Their reliance on the ground game will play into Chicago's hands. The Bears are mean against the run and if they shutdown Maurice Jones-Drew, which isn't easy, then they can force unconfident Blaine Gabbert into trying to find receivers that aren't open. On the offence the understanding between Cutler and Marshall is reaping rewards and should help the Bear to a fourth win.
Recommended Bet: Chicago -6.5
Seattle Seahawks @ Carolina Panthers - Sunday 21:05
Cam Newton looks to get the Panthers back on track against a Seahawks team that has been impressive without the ball. Newton will have to deal with pressure and may rely on his illusive running skills to get out of trouble if his pocket collapses. If the Panthers can get a decent lead then the Seahawks will be finished, although they have the league leading running back in Marshawn Lynch there passing game in non existent.
Recommended Bet: Carolina -3.5
Buffalo Bills @ San Francisco 49ers - Sunday 21:25
Both these team are built on a tough defence and a strong running game. But whereas the Bills probably just shade the running attack as they have more variation the 49ers can claim the better defence, they are horrible to play against and this should be a home banker as the 49ers start a string of winnable games at Candle Stick Park after an impressive shutout against the Jets last week.
Recommended Bet: San Francisco - 8.5
Denver Broncos @ New England Patriots - Sunday 21:25
It's Brady vs Manning in the showpiece game of the weekend, everyone will be watching as two of the greatest of all time face off. It couldn't be more mouth-watering as both teams come off huge wins last week and both sit 2-2. It's tough to pick major weaknesses in either team but the Pats have been poor against the pass in the opening weeks and that can only bode well for Peyton and his receivers. That might not be enough, the Pats are the number one offence and at home they should continue to put enough points on the board for the win.
Recommended Bet: New England - 5.5
Tennessee Titans @ Minnesota Vikings - Sunday 21:25
The Titans travel to Minnesota looking for another big day from Chris Johnson, he's the shining light in a very dreary team. They are without starting QB Jake Locker due to injury but it may be a blessing in disguise as Hasselbeck will surely be an improvement. The Vikings are much improved and have Peterson in top form again, they're far from reliable but should have enough for a home victory in this one.
Recommended Bet: Minnesota -6.5
San Diego Chargers @ New Orleans Saints - Monday 01:20
Everyone wants to see Drew Brees break the record and he will, but the result of the game is harder to predict. Evidently the Saints are nowhere near the same force without their coach on the sideline but their decline this year has been embarrassing. They lost by just a point in Green Bay last week which suggests there is life in them yet but their defence has gone AWOL this year. Bad news as the Chargers are surging on offence. Brees will have to fire them to a win if it's going to happen.
Recommended Bet: New Orleans -3.5
Houston Texans @ New York Jets - Tuesday 01:30
There's no stopping the Texans and on Monday Night Football they will want to flex their muscle. They face a Jets team that has lost it's key players to injury and couldn't even get a point on the board last week. The loss of Santonio Holmes this week is another massive blow to Mark Sanchez and co. and they must feel cursed. The NFL always throws up some crazy results but you'd have to be insane to predict anything but a Houston win in this one.
Recommended Bet: Houston -7.5
