The NFL is back on the BBC and Neil Monnery previews the live game on Sunday afternoon between New Orleans and Miami...
"Points wise the line is at 50.5 and I love the over. This has every indicator of being a high-scoring shootout and this is one of my more confident line picks of the season so far."
New Orleans Saints @ Miami Dolphins (in London)
Start-time: Sunday 1 October, 14:30 BST
Live on BBC Two
For the Dolphins...
Instead of being part of FOX's No2 broadcast team, Jay Cutler pulled out of that commitment to sign a one-year deal with the Dolphins. After a so-so start to his Miami career, he faces one of the worst defenses in the league this Sunday.
Cutler has thrown for 450 yards to go along with two scores and one interception through two games. Last week he got zero help from his backfield as they lost by 14 points to the New York Jets. That was an ugly defeat.
He'll need London-born Jay Ajayi to hit his stride. After a 122 rushing yard effort in their opening game, the 24-year-old could only get 16 against the Jets on 11 carries. That was very poor but I do think he'll put on a show in his hometown.
For the Saints...
Drew Brees is still one of the finest QBs in the league. With a 6:0 TD/Int ratio through three games, he's still very much the key to the New Orleans offense.
One target Brees doesn't have this year is Brandin Cooks. After an off-season trade with the Pats, Brees has lost one of his best receivers. This will lead to a significant drop-off in production from this position.
Michael Thomas will have to step up. The former Buckeye has been solid so far with 17 receptions but he needs to be 'the man' after Cooks' departure.
Willie Snead is listed as questionable with a hamstring injury. He was suspended for the first three games due to a DUI arrest but if he starts, he'll play the slot and give Brees a real alternative.
I'm no Jay Cutler fan. Not by a long chalk. Yet I have a weird feeling that he'll play well enough on Sunday to keep this close. My confidence in the Saints defense is through the floor so for that reason I'm rolling with Miami at 2.568/5 for the straight-up upset.
Points-wise the line is at 50.5 and I love the over. This has every indicator of being a high-scoring shootout and this is one of my more confident line picks of the season so far. This is available at 1.981/1 on the Exchange.
Two small side market plays this week. The new #OddsOnThat promotion once more has both teams to score 2+ TDs in each half at 33/1. I also like Jay Ajayi to score 2+ TDs on his own at 9/2. Both of those prices are from the Betfair Sportsbook.
