Live NFL Sunday Tips: Still believing in the Bengals

After coming up with a 40/1 winner last week, Neil Monnery looks to consolidate with the live games in Week 6...

"Andy Dalton is going everything that you can ask of him in dragging his team forward, a 11 TD to 2 INT ratio is more than acceptable."

Two stories are dominating the Buffalo landscape going into this one, the first is how their star wide receiver is making it known through his agent that he's not happy. Sammy Watkins has said of the Bills not targeting him at least 10 times a game that they are, "making me look bad and you're making yourself look bad". Certainly not great for internal harmony that.

Secondly who will be under center on Sunday is still unknown. Starting QB Tyrod Taylor is listed as questionable with a knee injury meaning that former first-round pick EJ Manuel is ready to make his return to the team. During practice reps it has been the back-up who has been seeing the majority of snaps. Should Manuel start then I'd expect the line to drift outwards on a Buffalo win.

Coming into town are the still undefeated Bengals, whose spectacular comeback against Seattle last week finally made me somewhat a believer in them. Andy Dalton is going everything that you can ask of him in dragging his team forward, a 11 TD to 2 INT ratio is more than acceptable. Giovani Bernard is also averaging 5.5 yards per carry, giving the team the change-up option out of the backfield.

With the QB question up in the air I'm not prepared to stake too many points on this game. I think I'll back a small bet on the over 42.5 points market at 20/23 on the Sportsbook and Mohamed Sanu is starting to get targeted more often by Andy Dalton so 12/1 on him to score the first touchdown isn't an egregious price either.

Recommended Bets

1pt Back over 42.5 points at 20/23 on the Sportsbook
1pt Back Mohamed Sanu to score the first touchdown at 12/1 on the Sportsbook

Carolina Panthers @ Seattle Seahawks
Sunday, 21:05
Live on Sky Sports 2

So let me get this straight, the undefeated Carolina Panthers, coming off a bye week are a whopping 3.8514/5 to win straight up in Seattle, a team who are 2-3 and have no offensive line to speak of? Well that is a bit of a surprise I can assure you.

Not that I think Carolina are any good mind you, they have beaten the Jaguars, Texans, Saints and Buccaneers, not exactly a murderer's row of opponents. Yet you can only beat what is put in front of you. Seattle's three defeats have come in a division encounter in St. Louis and then away at two unbeaten teams in Green Bay and Cincinnati.

Seattle's problem is clearly that o-line, that is just not playing very well at all at the moment. Russell Wilson is unable to sit back in the pocket and go through his progressions, meaning that he is scrambling a lot of the time. Still if there is a better QB at getting something out of a broken play then I've not seen them, Wilson is that good at making something out of nothing.

This is the second game of the day where I don't have a strong feeling and will therefore be stingy with the points. Seattle to win with a 7.5 point handicap and over 34.5 points scored is 13/8 on the Sportsbook so I'll be lukewarm towards that and over 19.5 points in the first half at 10/11 is also worth a point.

Recommended Bets

1pt Back Seattle -7.5 points and over 34.5 points scored at 13/8 on the Sportsbook
1pt Back over 19.5 points scored in the first half at 10/11 on the Sportsbook
