Kansas City Chiefs @ Denver Broncos

One team comes into this game on the back of two wins while the other is on a two-game losing streak. Perhaps surprisingly it is the Chiefs that have struggled recently, and they will be looking to put a stop to the poor run they are on.
The Broncos got off to a sluggish start this season but wins in their last two games have seen them move to 2-4 and on something of a resurgence.
The Chiefs however have now lost to the Colts and Texans with Patrick Mahomes struggling with an ankle injury behind a shakey offensive line.
Strength vs Strength
This one is a battle of strengths as the explosive Chiefs' offence looks to break down a Denver defence that is looking stronger with every game. They kept the Titans off the scoreboard last week and as they are getting more used to Vic Fangio's scheme, are becoming one of the best defences in the league. They are currently ranked fourth overall and have been very good against the pass in particular.
Mahomes is still playing very well. He is already over 2000 yards and has 14 touchdowns and just one interception. It is just a slight drop from last season's incredible run where he was named MVP. However, the past three weeks have seen his completion percentage drop below 60%, something that only happened four times in total in 2018.
Tyreek Hill returned from injury against the Texans, but the team looks set to be without Sammy Watkins who has led the receivers in Hill's absence.
Kansas City's offensive line is struggling with injuries and the Denver defence is going to have a great chance to get after Mahomes and cause him some problems. It is going to be the key match up when deciding this game, and right now it appears that the Broncos are favourites to come out on top in it.
Chiefs' struggles on the ground
While the Chiefs passing game has been great, the run game has struggled somewhat. Damien Williams was expected to lead the backfield this season but has just 63 yards through six weeks. LeSean McCoy was brought in just before the season and has taken over as the lead back, but he himself is averaging under 50 yards per game on the ground. It is not something we are used to seeing from an Andy Reid offence. The head coach has been able to plug in almost any running back into his system and find success over the years, but right now he can't seem to get anything going from his run game.
If the Broncos' defence does have a weakness then it is against the run, but they are far from a pushover and if McCoy and Williams can't get things going then the Chiefs could be in for another tough night.
Broncos' young stars
Many expected Phillip Lindsay to have a drop off after his superb rookie season, but he has picked up where he left off. The running back is on pace to match last season and with the Broncos having an upturn in form, he could be somebody to look out for over the rest of the season. He already has over 500 total yards and has four touchdowns in his past four games.
In the receiving game it is Courtland Sutton who is emerging as one of the very best receivers in the league. Like Lindsay it is his second season in the NFL.

Despite some average at best quarterback play from Joe Flacco, Sutton is producing every week. He has had 60 or more yards in five of his six games - the only one he didn't was against the strong Bears defence. Sutton is yet to reach 100 yards in a game this season, but he has every opportunity to do so against the poor Chiefs secondary.
Broncos can get themselves back in the playoff race
The first instinct when looking at this game is that the 4-2 Chiefs should be comfortable favourites over the 2-4 Broncos. But when you delve into it the Broncos match up really well. Add that to playing in Denver - a place that is notoriously tough to go to with the altitude - and on a short week, this is going to be hard for Kansas City and the Broncos can add another win and really put themselves back in the playoff hunt.
