Rafael Nadal has put down a serious marker for Wimbledon after being matched at [7.2] on Betfair's winner market for the Artois Championship en route to defeating Novak Djokovic in this afternoon's final.
Nadal was matched at a high of [4.9] on the final's match odds market when trailing 3-0 in the first set but fought back in typical resilient fashion to set up a tie break during which he saved a set point before winning it 8-6. Djokovic was matched at a low of [1.26] on the match odds market whilst a straight sets win for Nadal was backed at odds of [20.0].
As Nadal was winning in South West London, his nemesis Roger Federer was winning in Halle, Germany for the fifth time in his career. Whilst Roger Federer's price on Betfair has remained roughly the same at around the [2.3] mark, Nadal's price for Wimbledon has come into [3.9] from [5.0] at the start of the week.
Djokovic is a [5.1] shot to follow up his Australian Open success earlier on in the year but the Betfair odds suggest that it won't be this year that the Wimbledon faithful will be celebrating British success - And Murray is currently trading at [55.0]..
