"Murray is a 5.0 shot to go one better than last year but Roger Federer, who faces Jose Acasuso this evening, remains the US Open men's tournament favourite at 2.24."
Andy Murray will have to brush aside a familiar foe if he is to go one better at this year's US Open. So how do Betfair punters rate his chances?
Andy Murray is due on court at Flushing Meadow this evening as he bids to make it to the third round of the US Open.
The second seed was impressive in his first round straight sets victory over Ernest Gulbis and Betfair punters do not expect him to struggle against world number 87 Paul Capdeville tonight. Murray is rated a [1.01] chance in the match odds market while Capdeville is available to back at a massive [55.0].
The US Open is Murray's favourite Grand Slam tournament - he reached the final last year and is a 5.0 shot to go one better in 2009.
Despite not taking anything for granted as he bids to win his first Slam, Murray says he knows what to expect against Capdeville. He used to train with the 26-year-old world number 87 at the Sanchez-Casal academy in Barcelona.
"He hits everything well although he doesn't move particularly well, so I'm going to try to exploit that," said Murray.
If Murray wins tonight he will face a third round encounter with Ivan Navarro or American Taylor Dent in the third round. Roger Federer, who faces Jose Acasuso this evening, remains US Open men's tournament favourite at [2.24].
