"Oudin’s ability to move around the court chasing down each and every point has given the American the fire and fight to succeed. If fully fit she is going to put the jitters into Sharapova’s game plan and although the Russian will more than likely end up being the winner, Oudin will surely trouble her opponent."
Giant-killer Oudin has got the goods to give Maria a scare says Ben Caudell.
Melanie Oudin (USA) v Maria Sharapova (RUS)
This is the match most Americans will be tuning into watch today, as 17 year-old home favourite Melanie Oudin takes on former US Open champion Maria Sharopova. Youngster Oudin, who has risen to third in the US Rankings behind the Williams sisters, caused the biggest upset to date at this year's Open by defeating fourth seed Elena Dementieva 5-7, 6-4, 6-3. Oudin outplayed, and out lasted, Russian Dementieva in a match that had the crowd standing to applause the American's heroics as she fought through a thigh injury she sustained during the latter stages of the match.
Oudin knows hot to knock out seeded players at Grand Slam events, as recently as Wimbledon this year, she defeated number six seed Jelena Jankovic 6-7, 7-5, 6-2 before losing to Agnieska Radwanska in the fourth round.
Oudin's ability to move around the court chasing down each and every point has given the American the fire and fight to succeed. If fully fit she is going to put the jitters into Sharapova's game plan and although the Russian will more than likely end up being the winner, Oudin will surely trouble her.

Robin Soderling (SWE) v Sam Querrey (USA)Ever Since Robin Soderling paired up with Magnus Norman as coach he has looked a different player. Having reached the finals of the French Open - where he defeated Rafael Nadal en route - winning the Bastad Open, and losing a close fought match with Roger Federer in the fourth round of Wimbledon, the Swede has cemented his place amongst the world's elite.
Having received a walkover in the previous round against Marcel Granollers after playing just two games, Soderling will be fresh and raring to go against Sam Querrey today. The faster, Lower bouncing US Open hard courts will suite Soderling's serve and hard hitting ground strokes, he has an important 3-0 head-to-head series lead over the American, dropping only one set .
