Italian has been reborn as a confident individual and can make it into the second week

Twenty-seven year-old Flavia Pennetta is having the time of her life at the moment!
Nearing the end of her career, the Italian stalwart has decided to enjoy herself, not panic, and instead be relaxed about the ability she possesses.
This year has been the most productive yet on the WTA tour for the Italian, not only is she in-form having reached the semi-finals of the Cincinnati and New Haven Premier events, she has also managed to win a tournament on the American hard courts within the last month, the Los Angeles Premier event, where she defeating today's opponent, Vera Zvonareva, in the quarter finals 6-4 6-2.
Pennetta is the first Italian ever to reach the Top 10 in the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Rankings and has been exuding confidence of late. I am finding it hard to find any reasons to go against her in today's match-up with the Russian.

Tomas Berdych (CZE) v Fernando Gonzalez (CHI)
The value bet of the day has to be with Tomas Berdych. Not only has he won the last three matches against Chilean Gonzalez, he also has a decent record at the US Open, reaching the fourth round on a regular basis.
Gonzalez suits the clay courts better than he does hard. With his huge take back on the forehand and backhand sides it is little wonder than the Chilean fails adapt to the faster court surfaces. I expect this match to go all way to the end with a potential five setter on the cards, Berdych I believe is over priced and therefore has to be backed at a tasty [2.4].
