Fresh from predicting Andy Murray's win over Roger Federer, Sean Calvert casts his eye over the women's Australian Open Final and he fancies the outsider..
"It’s a very tough match to call, but I’ll be going with the better value on Na Li at around 2.245/4.."
It was another winning bet in the men's singles on Friday morning, as Andy Murray edged past Roger Federer to reach the Australian Open final.
Murray was a worthy winner and he more than covered my recommended wager on him prevailing by more than 2.5 games.
The Scot could have done it in four, but was broken serving for the match and went on to lose the fourth set breaker to make us suffer a bit longer, but Federer was never in the decider and Murray goes on to face Novak Djokovic in the final again.
But before all of that it's the women's final on Rod Laver Arena at around 8.30am between Vika Azarenka and Na Li.
The two players won their semi finals in contrasting circumstances, with Azarenka causing controversy by taking a medical time out for what she initially admitted was a choke, but then quickly altered to a rib injury in the post match press conference.
And Li could scarcely have been more impressive in her straight sets win over Maria Sharapova, which sets up an intriguing championship match in which Azarenka is a fairly narrow favourite at around 1.794/5.
This will be their 10th career meeting in total, with Azarenka leading 5-4 and having won the last four straight since the end of 2011. The last three have been quite tight though, with two being won in a deciding set and the most recent one in Istanbul on indoor hard involving a tie breaker.
They've met here once, back in 2011 in the fourth round, which Na Li won in straight sets and given Azarenka's physical problems with her ribs and ankle and also perhaps the crowd will be against her after the Stephens match, Li has to be the value at 2.245/4.
From my viewpoint the Chinese star has played the more impressive tennis this fortnight and of course Azarenka is yet to meet a player seeded higher than number 29 in this tournament and hasn't been at her absolute best.
It's a very tough match to call, but I'll be going with the better value on Na Li at around 2.245/4.
Back Na Li to beat Azarenka at 2.245/4
