Storm Lee was the first act eliminated on Sunday after receiving the fewest public votes
"Just 12 acts remain with painter and decorator Matt Cardle currently heading the Winner market at [3.8]."
Two more acts disappeared into the world of X Factor has-beens on Sunday leaving 12 more to fight it out for this year's crown.
There were no surprises in X Factor land this week as rock wannabe Storm Lee and camp duo Diva Fever were both eliminated from this year's show.
For the second week running, the first act to perform on Saturday night was eliminated come Sunday night's result show. However, unlike FYD - who were first on last week - Storm Lee's elimination was no surprise as his odds shortened dramatically in the 3rd Elimination market once his woeful rendition of Bruce Springsteen's Born To Run was over.
Lee was the [2.58] favourite to get the boot prior to the market being suspended.
Diva Fever's elimination came in a slightly more debatable way. Both they and Belle Amie had to sing-off with the four judges casting a vote as to who they wanted to send home.
But despite Diva Fever putting in a far more polished and entertaining performance, both Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole decided to save Belle Amie on the basis that - in their opinion - they were the act that had the most potential. It begs the question why have a sing-off in the first place if you're not going save the act that performs best in it? Why not just send home the two acts that finish bottom of the public vote?
It all means that just 12 acts remain with painter and decorator Matt Cardle currently heading the Winner market at [3.8]. But the 27-year-old faces stiff opposition in the form of boy band One Direction ([4.2]), shy solo artist Rebecca Ferguson ([8.0]), and former supermarket worker Mary Byrne ([8.4]).
Let us know your thoughts on Sunday's eliminations and who you think will win this year's X Factor. And don't forget to check back during the week to read Mike Norman's review/preview article and Jack Houghton's update on all the latest news.

Since Michelle, what's her name, not so popular with King Simon, won Pop Rivals the format was changed so that wouldn't happen again. It's a clever revamp. The public vote and the dregs are left to the judges. If someone has a bad week they can be saved. If not who cares. Apart from lining The King's pockets, is there any point in voting? Just an observation.
Matt & Rebecca will improve & take some beating. The King wins whoever wins...That's the point. init!
Tx,
King wannabe...lol
