Mary Byrne was the unlucky act to lose out in this week’s semi-final
"The final four consists of Matt Cardle – available to back at [1.9] in the Winner market – One Direction ([3.7]), Rebecca Ferguson ([5.3]) and Cher Lloyd ([50.0])."
Losing in the semi-final is perhaps the hardest pill to swallow. Mary Byrne is the X Factor contestant about to go through that experience.
Former supermarket check-out worker Mary Byrne tonight became the 12th act to be eliminated from this year's X Factor, leaving just four acts to battle it out in next week's final show.
Byrne was the hot favourite at around [1.7] in the 12th Elimination market prior to the results being revealed and it was no surprise to see her in the bottom two alongside teenager Cher Lloyd. Byrne's rendition of It's a Man's World was arguably better than Lloyd's sing-off performance, but judges Dannii Minogue, Cheryl Cole, and finally Simon Cowell decided to send the youngster through in preference to the older contestant.
The final four consists of Matt Cardle - available to back at [1.9] in the Winner market - One Direction ([3.7]), Rebecca Ferguson ([5.3]) and Lloyd ([50.0]). The four acts will perform three songs next week in an attempt to win your vote for the right to be crowned this year's winner.
Will Cardle justify his series-long favourite's tag or will One Direction become the first group to win the show? Can super-shy Ferguson prevail or will the once not-so-liked Lloyd spring a huge surprise?
