Irish girl Janet Devlin is the latest contestant to be eliminated from this year's X Factor competition, leaving just four acts to sing for the star prize.

It started out as a dream, but developed into a nightmare, and tonight Janet Devlin was put out of her X Factory misery by becoming the 12th act to be eliminated from this year's competition.

The Irish teenager was the early favourite to win the glittering prize - matched at a low of just [3.1] - and clearly has an outstanding recording voice, but in recent weeks she has twice forgotten her words and looked like a performer devoid of any support and confidence. Few will argue that she deserved to go after Saturday night's horror show.

Devlin had been matched at [4.8] in the 12th Elimination market but was soon trading at around the [1.7] market after she first forgot her words to the Hanson classic MMMBop, and then gave a poor rendition of Red Hot Chilli Peppers' Under The Bridge.

Misha Bryan joined Devlin in the sing-off, her third appearance in the bottom two despite singing well, but in all honesty the result was inevitable - it appears Devlin has been primed for an X Factor exit for three or four weeks now (more on that tomorrow).

Just four acts remain in the competition with Marcus Collins holding his position at the top of the Winner market at [2.5]. Collins' main danger appears to be girlband Little Mix (Rhythmix) who are available to back at [3.0], whilst the other two acts - Amelia Lily and Bryan - can be wagered at [5.8] and [14.0] respectively.
