Aiden Grimshaw’s time on X Factor has come to an end
"Judges’ Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole decided to send home Grimshaw, whilst Louis Walsh and Dannid Minogue opted to send home Waissel meaning the outcome went to deadlock."
Rumours of a double elimination proved unfounded as just the one act left the competition on Sunday, the unlucky person being dull Aiden Grimshaw.
Aiden Grimshaw tonight became the eighth performer to be eliminated from The X Factor, meaning just eight acts remain in with a chance of being crowned this year's winner.
Grimshaw - who was available to back at a massive [40.0] in the 8th Elimination market - was in the sing-off for the first time against perennial sing-off girl Katie Waissel. His rendition of the Crowded House hit Don't Dream It's Over was ok, but admittedly it wasn't as good as Waissel's rendition of Christina Aguilera's Save Me From Myself.
Judges' Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole decided to send home Grimshaw, whilst Louis Walsh and Danni Minogue opted to send home Waissel meaning the outcome went to deadlock. Waissel - who reportedly finished bottom of the public vote last week - would have feared the worst after finishing in the bottom two for the fourth time in just six weeks, but thankfully for her it was Grimshaw's name that was announced as receiving the fewest votes this week.
Matt Cardle ([2.9] in Winner market), Rebecca Ferguson ([3.3]) and One Direction ([4.3]) continue to dominate the betting and look destined to be the final three acts in the competition after impressing during Elton John week. Cardle pulled off what promised to be a tricky number (Goodbye Yellow Brick Road), whilst Ferguson (Candle In The Wind) and One Direction (Something About The Way You Look Tonight) received excellent comments following their stand-out performances.
