Eliminated - boyband Nu Vibe

"Nu Vibe were voted into the bottom two by the public after performing an awful rendition of U2’s huge hit ‘With Or Without You’ on Saturday night."

After the shock of last week's 'big twist' eliminations The X Factor got back to normality this weekend with a public vote and a non-too-surprising exit. Mike Norman explains...

Manufactured boyband Nu Vibe tonight became the fifth act to be eliminated from this year's X Factor after losing out in a sing-off to Frankie Cocozza.

The five piece were voted into the bottom two by the public after performing an awful rendition of U2's huge hit 'With Or Without You' on Saturday night, and then failed to impress again in the sing-off when their performance was arguably the most out-of-tune and cringe worthy song ever performed on the show for a 'supposedly' decent group. Understandably Nu Vibe's mentor Tulisa Contostavlos chose to save her own act and Gary Barlow chose to save his (Cocozza), but the two neutral mentors - Louis Walsh and Kelly Rowland - both decided that the boyband's time was up.

Nu Vibe were available to back at [4.0] in the Fifth Elimination market when it opened last Monday, a price that I advised you to take in my weekly column. Before the market was suspended prior to the results show, Nu Vibe were available to back at just [1.4].

Despite being saved from elimination tonight Cocozza is in that uncomfortable position of knowing that he has already been in the bottom two and perhaps doesn't have the public on his side as much as he'd hoped.

Cocozza is available to back at [60.0] in the Winner market and will most certainly have to raise his game next week, as too will Sophie Habibis ([14.0]), Marcus Collins ([28.0]), Johnny Robinson ([60.0]), and Sami Brookes ([80.0]) who all failed to impress this weekend.

The same cannot be said of the only remaining boyband in the competition, The Risk, who now head the market at [3.4] after performing an unusual, but excellent, version of the Bruno Mars hit 'Just The Way You Are'. Barlow was impressed enough to describe the group as pure class, whilst Walsh - a man who knows a thing or two about boybands - said, "There is something magical here guys and I am going to predict big things for The Risk."

You can read my full review of this weekend's action, including some harsh words for Mr Barlow and some surprisingly nice words about Kitty Brucknell, tomorrow, but in the meantime please tell me your thoughts on tonight's results by leaving a comment below.
