The 7 worst ever X-Factor performances

The voice of an angel, with the face and hair of a gerbil.

Dan Fitch's ear drums take some punishment, as he looks at some of the worst ever performances at the X-Factor live shows.

The new series of The X-Factor is almost upon us and the judges will be soon separating the wheat from the chaff during the audition process.

Despite the rigorous challenges to whittle down the contestants, plenty of chaff still manages to make it through each year to the live shows. If you want proof, here are the seven worst ever X-Factor performances.

7. Chico Slimani- Do You Think I'm Sexy

We assume that the question 'Do You Think I'm Sexy' was a rhetorical one, because surely very few people would answer 'yes', unless they had a penchant for gurning, randomly groaning, cabaret performers.

As an audition for a life performing at holiday camps, it was an extremely good one. As an audition to become a credible recording artist, it was extremely bad.

6. Addictiv Ladies - Superstar

Picture a bunch of girls singing drunkenly at pub karaoke and you have a rough idea of the performance given by Addictiv Ladies in series two of The X-Factor.

Far from becoming 'superstars', the 17-year olds were given the boot in week one of the competition. If we were giving a school report for this display, we'd hand them the 'E' that's missing from Addictiv.

5. Eoghan Quigg - L.O.V.E.

Almost all of Eggnog's bland performances were worthy of this list, but he really bit off more than he could chew when he tackled L.O.V.E.

Originally sung by the assured and mature tones of Nat King Cole, the 16-year-old-going-on-twelve Eoghan struggled to measure up. As if his vocals weren't weedy enough, Quigg's onstage movements are truly cringeworthy.

4. Bad Lashes - Wonderwall

You know that an X-Factor performance is going to be bad when the act doesn't even know who recorded the original song. So when Bad Lashes proclaimed "We're going to sing Wonderwall by Ryan Adams" it was obvious that things were going to go wrong.

Their version had none of the singalong charm of the Oasis original, nor the cool of the Adams cover. Instead we were treated to more bum notes than are heard at the average concert by the British National Bottom Burp Orchestra.

3. Scott Bruton - Yeh Yeh

Scott Bruton was the victim of a shocking song choice, when his mentor Simon Cowell picked the Georgie Fame hit 'Yeh Yeh'. Bruton's vocals were curiously quiet throughout and were regularly drowned out by his backing singers.

Louis Walsh summed it up, as: "The most hideous song choice ever on X-Factor".

2. Wagner - I'm Still Standing/Circle Of Life

The ever-cunning Louis Walsh tried to get round the fact that Wagner had no singing ability whatsoever, by making him sing a medley of songs every week. Just when you were starting to realise how terribly Wagner was performing a certain song, he would suddenly switch to caterwauling through something else.

Probably the worst example of this was Wagner's butchering of two Elton John classics, where he had extreme difficulty in keeping up with the fast-paced I'm Still Standing.

1. John and Edward - Oops I Did It Again

Jedward achieved the near impossible with their performance of 'Oops I Did It Again', by making Britney Spears seem talented by comparison and causing the botoxed face of Simon Cowell crease up with laughter.

A particular highlight of the twins hapless performance is the spoken word segment of the song, in which John and Edward prove themselves to be even worse actors than they are singers.
