After surviving last week, Michelle could be on her way this time
"Michelle is [5.70] to go this weekend, and it's still a bet, but nowhere near as sexy as the price she was seven days ago."
Strictly goes back to the roaring 1920s this weekend. It's a shame Paul Daniels isn't in the competition anymore, says Alan Dudman, as he would have been around when the Charleston first came to prominence.
With the magician gone, the impact on the prices have been minimal. Peter Shilton is [380.00] to win it, which is not surprising, although Goldie is [500.00] and he got eliminated in the first week. The winner market is an absolute nightmare with Matt [3.80], Scott [4.40], Kara [5.90] and Pamela [7.00] all holding strong claims, very strong claims. And at this stage they are hard to split - although Dr Pam is still the improver (and she was double figures last week).
The dances this Saturday will really test the competitors. The Charleston is very speedy, one that has to be fun and able to tell a story. Last year's winner Chris Hollins was exceptional with his version - he knew how to have fun. Foot swivels, arm turns and facial expressions are a must. Meanwhile, dancers tackling the tango will have to be on their mettle, this is the more powerful and dark dance. A narrative is important, but it's the more macho and manly of the two.
The Week Three Elimination market is the one to focus on again this weekend. The project with Michelle Williams almost came off last Saturday, with the Destiny's Child singer in the bottom two, and as a survivor (some musical connection there I do believe) she fights another day. She is [5.70] to go this weekend, and it's still a bet, but nowhere near as sexy as the price she was seven days ago. Williams has the tango, and as Brendan Cole has returned to New Zealand, she has a new partner in
the shape of Ian Waite. Once again the singer appeared drained of all confidence on this week's 'ITT', I don't think the public get her, nor want her in. The plus side is that Waite is the tango King. Bottom two material again though.
Gavin Henson is an interesting contender for an exit this week (and that's the only time the words interesting and Henson are likely to appear together). The Rugby ace is [12.00] to get the boot, and the pressure is on. He needs a big dance, and I am
not sure the tango is the one, or if he has a big dance in him. The judges have been scathing in their comments. Dull, no emotion, wooden - and those have been the positives!
Craig Revell-Horwood said his floorboards have more movement than 'our Gav'. Meeeeoooow. Saucer of milk for table 11. The problem for the Welshman is that he is painfully shy with no personality. Emotion is obviously a big problem and Len, Alesha,
Bruno and Craig are bored of him. I think the public may be bored too, as beyond the abs and the bum there is zilch. The saving grace is that any tango males need to be macho and strong. He is both these things, and of course is very tango, orange and tanned. The price however is sure to give a run and a trade.
Peter Shilton is favourite for the chop at [3.15], and his first training steps shown on 'ITT' were not great. Arms were no, no, no and no. However, the coach seemed to think it could be his best dance yet. For me there is not much in the price, I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves, and at the odds we can let him. He is a no play this Saturday, although the Charleston does throw up lots of problems.
In the highest scorer markets, it's hardly a shock to see the right names there for week three. Matt, Kara, Pamela and Scott are virtually the same at [3.50] and [3.65]. Pam rocked a top notch 35 last Saturday with the highest score of the series, and she is set for a raunchy tango, but Kara has great potential for her Charleston with the kicks and swivels. A flyer could be Jimi who was poor last week. However his Charleston could be a Chris Hollins type dance, and [15.00] is too big. This was the best dance for Hollins, I am hoping the same works for Mistry.
Oh, and Neil Diamond is perfoming live on the results show on Sunday. A true legend who has sold over 128 million albums worldwide. Which is precisely 128 million more than last week's singer Peter Andre.
Week three suggested bets:
Back Gavin Henson in elimination market @ [12.00]
Back Michelle Williams in elimination market @ [5.70]
Back Jimi Mistry [15.00] and Kara Tointon [3.65] in top scorer market.
