Strictly Come Dancing 2019: James leaves as Barker tops leaderboard

It was another eventful weekend on Strictly as David James was finally eliminated and Saffron Barker dazzled judges to top the leaderboard, says Max Liu in his odds round-up...

"YouTuber Barker is 19/120.0 to win over all and, at 11/43.7, second in the betting to finish as top female, behind Emma Barton 4/51.8."

David James became the fourth contestant to leave this series of Strictly after the former-goalkeeper and his partner Nadiya Bychkova lost Sunday's dance off again Mike Bushell and Katya Jones.

The ex-England man had rode his luck for a couple of rounds, before producing a much-improved performance in week 4, but it ran out when it came to the fourth elimination.

Jiving to a Michael Buble tune was always unlikely to cut it with the judges and the public and so it proved as James was voted off. Bushell and Jones managed to rally the crowd with a salsa that at least had a bit of spark, but the judges agreed they were technically poor as James and Bychkova, so it's likely the TV presenter will be the favourite to be eliminated next when the market goes live.

Fletcher still favourite but Barker and Zeroual impress

At the other end of the leaderboard, Kelvin Fletcher 21/202.04 is still the favourite to win the glitter ball this series.

Saffron Barker was, however, the star of the round, impressing the judges with at Foxtrot for which she and partner AJ Pritchard were awarded a whopping 38 out of 40. YouTuber Barker is 19/120.0 to win over all and, at 11/43.7, second in the betting to finish as top female, behind Emma Barton 4/51.8.

Karim Zeroual and partner Amy Dowden were impressive again scoring 36 for their Salsa to 'Who Let the Dogs Out'. Zeroual is 3/14.0 to win Strictly which continues next weekend with a Halloween Special.
