The Prince and his fiance announce their engagement
“The market points to a summer marriage, with June, July and August almost neck-and-neck in the betting."
Amid hard times, the nation has been cheered up by the Royal engagement. But Betfair punters aren't ruling out a change of heart from the Prince...
Prince William has finally taken the plunge and asked Kate Middleton to marry him, but Betfair punters make it just [15.0] that the Prince gets cold feet and doesn't make it down the aisle before the end of next year.
Heir-to-the-throne Wills, 28, popped the question on holiday in Kenya last month, and if he keeps his nerve the betting points firmly towards a summer ceremony next year. August 2011 is the [3.0] market favourite for the Royal Wedding with July a [3.7] chance, and June a [5.1] shot.
Betfair's Andy Lulham said: "The market points to a summer marriage, with June, July and August almost neck-and-neck in the betting. But having split temporarily a couple of years ago, Betfair customers are not ruling out William going back on his word and not tying the knot in 2011."
Prince William Wedding Date: August [3.0], 11-5 July, 12-5 June, 6-1 May, April, 8-1 September, 11-1 October, 14-1 No Wedding in 2011, 15-1 November/December, 30-1 March, 50-1 January/February
