Will you back Engelbert?
"The UK have been backed at [75.0] but on Thursday they came in to [14.5]."
Singer says Eurovision selection is an "honour" after BBC announces that he will perform for the UK on May 26. And Betfair punters slash the odds on first British win for 15 years...
The UK are trading at [17.0] to win Eurovision 2012 following the announcement that veteran crooner Engelbert Humperdinck will represent Britain at this year's contest.
The 75-year-old, who had his last top 20 hit in 1972, will try to revive Britain's standing at the musical bonanza which takes place in Azerbaijan on 26 May.
The odds on a first UK success since Katrina and the Waves' victory in 1997 have narrowed since the news was announced by the BBC last night.
The UK have been backed as as high as [75.0] but on Thursday they came in to [14.5] and are now sixth in the market, behind nations such as favourites Russia [3.55] and Sweden [6.0].
The song that Humperdinck will perform has yet to be unveiled but, whether the man they call "The King of Romance" can win for Britain or not, the BBC has certainly got everybody talking with this unexpected Eurovision entry. Let us know what you think about our chances below...
