JJ is now favourite to win BB11
"John James is the new favourite, into [5.1] after another strong week."
After Keeley got crocked, there will be no BB eviction on Friday and the house may even seen an addition. Meanwhile, there's no break in the JJ rise to the top of the market. Eliot Pollack reports.
We knew there was a chance that a broken ankle would have a huge impact this summer. But who could have predicted that it would have been BB talent Keeley, whose tragic accident ruined all our weekends? No eviction tonight - watch Jonathan Ross instead. What? Oh.
It wasn't a crunching tackle that did for the newbie, but rather a freak accident climbing out the bath dressed as a spider. And who amongst us hasn't done that? Add to this the tearful farewell of young Caoimhe, it all means that the BB suits have decided to leave the house as is tonight, and there are even rumours they will toss in another.
John James is the new favourite, into [5.1] after another strong week. By sloping off to the secret pod for a private weep when Caoimhe left, JJ did his worth the world of good - voters like sensitive souls.
Josie [6.0], as in the show, remains nice and snug in behind JJ. She's the second favourite, although her popularity has dipped over the past seven days. Yet given she was trading in the 40s at one stage, her price, six weeks in, is by no means a disaster.
This column has said it once, and with a word count to hit, by jingo we'll say it again. The J/JJ (J cubed maybe) love affair has to keep rolling for both these two.
Corin worryingly hangs in there, ready to pounce at [7.0], and around her sit Ben and Mario. Ben [8.0] seems to have adopted mad monk Dave's, ahem, habit (I'm here all week) of telling everyone that he loves them. Which in turn, tends to mean that nobody loves you. But Mario [8.2] too is struggling, having become dull city in recent weeks. Like a bitter spinster from a Jane Austen novel, he just seems to pounce from the shadows to douse other people's dramas every so often, and then return into the background.
The aforementioned Dave [50.0], and vanilla Rachel [42.0] make up the also-rans, but it is worth focusing for a minute on the two remaining, healthy housemates, Steve and Andrew.
Andrew is in to [13.5], still playing the nerdy card. However, he made a mistake by doing the 'nescafe handshake' sign behind the dude from Pineapple Studios' back.
Finally - Steve, at one point as short as [5.0] - the man nailed-on early doors for triumph. Yet now he looks likely to be wheeling himself out pretty soon. His intense, army-driven personality is totally incompatible for the camp nonsense that is BB. Lower the ramp folks.
