Italy could be pushed hard
Italy started the World Cup with a confident victory but they will face a tougher challenge against Uruguay in Nice.
The Azzurri eased to a 52-8 victory over Namibia in their opener, with a seven-try success. It was a welcome result for the long-suffering Six Nations team.
Exciting wing Ange Capuozzo scored a try to add to his growing reputation on the big stage. Kieran Crowley's team are not afraid to take the game to opponents and Uruguay are likely to have their hands full.
Uruguay made a strong impression in their first match, with the South Americans coming away with credit from their 27-12 defeat against France. Nicolas Freitas stunned the tournament hosts with an early try before they took control.
Italy have faced Uruguay once before and the European team edged to a 17-10 victory two years ago. Their Autumn Nations Cup meeting in Italy was a closely fought affair and suggests this World Cup encounter could also be settled by fine margins.
Back Uruguay with generous handicap
The handicap betting is somewhat surprising with Uruguay offered a hefty 26-point advantage.
This match has always been their target with third place in the pool offering automatic qualification to the next World Cup. Uruguay's preparation has been focused on this match and they will surely put up a huge fight.
Uruguay's performance against France was encouraging and there is every reason to think they can prevail with their generous handicap. Italy may hold the edge across the 80 minutes but Uruguay can keep it much closer than the betting implies.
