Giants to stand tall again
Huddersfield Giants vs Wakefield Trinity
Friday 31, August, 19:45 BST
Huddersfield's push for a top-four place shows no sign of abating and they can notch up a ninth win in ten league games on Friday.
The Giants brushed aside Hull FC 26-6 at the John Smith's Stadium in their last match and a defeat to the Challenge Cup-winners Catalans in the quarter-finals of that competition is their only reversal at home since the middle of April. They were comfortable 40-28 winners over Wakefield three games ago and can beat their Yorkshire rivals for the fourth time this year.
Aaron Murphy, who has five tries to his name this season, and Michael Lawrence are both set to return for Simon Woolford's side.
Back Huddersfield to cover the handicap of eight.
Another Challenge Cup hangover on the cards
Castleford Tigers vs Catalan Dragons
Saturday 1, September 19:30 BST
Catalans Dragons made history last week but could come back down to earth with a bump when they visit Castleford on Saturday.
Recent Challenge Cup-winners have struggled back in the league. Warrington in 2012 were the last Wembley heroes to back up their success in their next game, and the five subsequent winners have each had to wait at least two matches for their next victory.
The Dragons beat Castleford 44-16 in France on their last meeting in June but have been on the receiving end of some hammerings against the sides in the top four otherwise, not least in their two games prior to Wembley when shipping a total of 91 points against Wigan and Warrington as Steve McNamara rotated his squad.
This hasn't been missed by the layers, with Castleford asked to cover a handicap of 22 on the Sportsbook, but they look well up to the task with their opponents out of the play-off picture. The return of 2017 Man of Steel Luke Gale is massive, while Catalans are missing four from last week, including Michael McIlorum, who had such a big game at Wembley.
With Warrington's demolition-job over Hull on Thursday in mind, back Castleford to cover the big handicap.
