1 - Hull FC to beat Leeds Rhinos @ 17/10
Friday, 20:00
Leeds have had the best of FC all season, but this time the home side should have the upper hand. Only a week away from the Challenge Cup final, Leeds have confirmed that their squad will be rotated and key players rested, so an understrength and unfamiliar Rhinos side will take the field on Friday night. Leeds pulled the same trick last season a week before the final, and gave the London Broncos one of their only wins of the season.
FC, meanwhile, are coming off the back of a fantastic result away to St Helens, overcoming a huge first half deficit and playing some of their finest rugby of the entire season. This is a big Yorkshire derby, with FC fans desperate to beat the Rhinos as always, and they'll have no better shot than this weekend, despite the long odds.
2 - Leigh Centurions to beat Wakefield Trinity Wildcats @ 13/8
Saturday, 15:00
Things haven't gone to plan for Leigh so far in the Super8s, with their first two matches ending in a loss. Wakefield, however, have shaken off their own poor regular season Super League form to make a better fist at survival than many had predicted them to. However, this Centurions side is hell bent on gaining promotion, so they'll be pushing themselves that extra bit further in this huge home game.
Both of these sides are better in an attacking environment than they are defensively, with Wakefield having a tad bit more flair than a Leigh side that has depended on their physicality to bully other sides at stages this season. This has the potential to be one of the most entertaining games of the round, but fully expect the home side to nick it.
3 - Catalan Dragons to beat Castleford Tigers by over 13pts @ 9/5
Saturday, 17:00
Catalan usually win at home and Castleford don't really travel all that well. Unfortunately, there's not too much more to this one than that. Cas have a real chance of getting themselves in to the top four if their good form continues, while Catalan are too far off the pace to be playing for the same thing. Last season though, when the Tigers travelled to France on the last day knowing a win would secure them top spot, their was no mercy from the home side, and they crushed Cas on the night.
Both sides play the game in the right way, and share some of the most bright attacking rugby in the entire competiton, but Catalan are a completely different side on their own patch. Cas might stay with them for a while, but expect the home side to put a rare Super8s home game to good use and win big.
