Training sites and collapsing beds

On Saturday Pudding Parents had baby Pudding over to sleep so Mrs P and I were looking forward to a relaxing night in and a long 10-12 hours sleep. However, since I run bad at life this wouldn't happen, not even a little bit.

For some reason, when I am winning, I find it difficult to keep playing yet when I m losing I tend to be able to grind out dozens of games in a session. Anyone else like this? I think it's weird TBH.

After quaffing a nice bottle of Lindemans Bin 50 which was a bargain £4 in Asda, I joined Mrs P in bed around midnight. After what felt like an hour but later turned out to be three we both woke up with a jolt after hearing a bang and feeling like we were moving!

Initially I thought the floor was caving in, as we had a leak from the central heating earlier in the week that came through the living room ceiling, but it turns out it was the bloody bed collapsing underneath us! I'd been painting the bedroom the last couple of days and had to pull the bed out and I think I must have bent the two supports underneath and then with both or weights it started to collapse under the strain!

We ended up putting the mattress on the floor and having a different night's sleep to say the least! I tried to fix it yesterday afternoon after coming back from a day out at Cannon Hall Farm but some of bolts were bent, as were some of key parts of the frame. I was surprised that two little supporting legs were so vital.

With that being our second bed in three months (our divan broke after a pregnant Mrs P jumped on it) I need to earn some poker pennies to buy a decent bed instead of settling for cheap ones that aren't very sturdy. Whilst I am still winning, I want to progress so that I am a regular at the $30-$50 games where I could make some significant cash.

In order to do this I have decided to join HUSNG.com, which is the only training site to concentrate solely on heads up SNG. Some of the others cover HUSNG but none of them are dedicated to my favourite game.

I decided to join for a month after a mammoth comment left in a previous post by one of their instructors named RyPac13. I respect Ryan's game immensely and emailed him to thank him for the comment and have since been chatting to him on MSN where he convinced me to sign up for a month.

I'm hoping that I'm going to learn how to play two tables at once effectively as I seem to nit up when I play two HUSNG at the same time but also get some insight from the likes of Skates, Croixdawg and PrimordialAA who kill the stakes games and charge upwards of $200 per hour for one-to-one coaching!

Over the next few posts I'll report back on what I have learned or what has baffled me along with any effects it has on my results or confidence. I'm sure it will only be a positive experience and hopefully I can start to progress quicker and start playing mid-stakes in the next couple of months.

Since my last entry I've not logged anything in the way of volume, in fact I have only played 21 games which is pathetic. For some reason, when I am winning, I find it difficult to keep playing yet when I m losing I tend to be able to grind out dozens of games in a session. Anyone else like this? I think it's weird TBH.

I had a horrible session on Friday where I dropped a couple of buy-ins over 10 games where I simply couldn't do anything right if I tried. This hand with Queens was fun, as was getting it in as an 80% favourite and losing. You know it's not your day when someone with a minus 30%ROI gets it all-in with a gutshot and an overcard and obviously hits then another major fish sits and shoves very first hand I call with suited Big Slick and am in great shape up to the river against his King-four offsuit! FML!

I shouldn't complain really as its nice to know the place is still full of fish and that reflects in my 63.1% ITM and 21.2% ROI, which the excellent Marcus Bateman thinks is sustainable in the long term at these stakes. With another $20 or so profit I will either start taking shots at the $10.50 games where I do not expect a great deal of difference in terms of skill or start trying to play my usual game but on two tables simultaneously.

That's all for now, got to take the broken bed to the recycle plant then going to Ikea before watching my first set of videos on HUSNG.com.

Bankroll currently stands at $228.60

As always thanks for reading and best of luck at the tables.

Human nature isn't wanting to get even and prove yourself when your behind and wanting to walk away a winner when your ahead. Bad for a poker player though, I know its generally considerd a bad idea but I do believe in using some form of stop loss/Stop win in HUP because it can be quite draining. IMO HUP poker is very personel, so lends itself to more emotional tilt than short or full ring games.
