After my recent MTT success, I fully expected for my luck to dry up for at least a few weeks but it seems that the Poker Gods (amen) had words with their mates, the Gambling Gods (amen) and let me carry on running like Usain Bolt!

My only previous experience with Betfair betting was when I cost myself £70 by stupidly laying Scumchester United to win against Ipswich only for them to hammer them 9-0 I think it was! LOL!

I've not gambled, if you do not count poker, for a long time. When I was 18 I backed the winner of the Grand National with my first-ever bet and then for about four years after I used to pick the odd nag out on a weekend and stick a couple of quid each way on it or do one of those Yankee or Canadian bets.

Anyway, after withdrawing most of my bankroll to cover some upcoming expenses I decided to put the remainder back onto Betfair, mainly because my HUD doesn't work properly there due to my crappy graphics card and I wanted to play some micro cash without any software.

Unfortunately, on Friday I got bored very quickly of contesting $0.36 pots so had a look at some of the upcoming races and tried my arm with the Betfair betting software. My only previous experience with Betfair betting was when I cost myself £70 by stupidly laying Scumchester United to win against Ipswich only for them to hammer them 9-0 I think it was! LOL!

I backed two total donkeys that didn't even place then I got a little lucky and recouped my £6 losses with a nice 14/1 shot in the last race of the night! Whilst Mrs P watched her daily dose of soaps and programmes I, for some reason, tried my arm at Blackjack!

Last year I won £20 with some free Blackjack money on my mobile phone but I was to outdo that by a long way towards the back end of Friday night. After deciding I could lose £10, I played some zero Blackjack, where there is no house edge, at £1 a go. After around five minutes, a pop-up appeared and told me I had been given a £50 bonus that could be used to play right away but not withdrawn.

Thanks to my new found wealth I started playing for £3 a game and then if I lost doubling my bet, otherwise known as the Martingale system, and quickly won £25. Things suddenly turned sour though and instead of just as I thought I was going to spunk my remaining bankroll away I had the best stroke of luck ever!

I get dealt AA and split and double down to get 21 on both cards! Weeeeeeee! I think it was about £70 at the time too which made it even more sweeter! After a bit of grinding I had cleared the bonus so it could be withdrawn, withdrawn my starting roll and still had some to play with. Within another half hour I had profited to the tune of £490 and decided to call it a day and not risk it any further!

So I now have a decent bankroll which will allow me to play NL50, take shots at NL100, $22 SnG and $22 MTTs so hopefully I can start to earn some proper corn and actually make this blog live up to its title!

I don't think I'll get to use my new roll properly for a little while as Mrs P is now five days overdue so I not only can't concentrate on matters properly, I'm scared of getting deep in an MTT or seated with a donkey and her going into labour on me!

Finally, it looks like Betfair are on the look out for new players and are giving away an iPod Touch for all new customers. Well worth it IMO, just wish I had sorted an affiliate link for you to sign up through and add to the Pudding coffers!

As always, thanks for reading and best of luck at the tables.

      Hey man!

I just had a crazy idea. If you were to sign up at one of the poker rooms on my rake back site (of which you would get normal rakeback), I would be willing to stake you for a 60/40 deal to play some higher stakes. Why? I like the way you approach the game and it will give me a new dimension of interest to the game. I'm not talking about a huge deal of money here- something like $300-400. This would be fun for me and perhaps open up some new doors for you. What do you think?
