It's been a long and tiresome week in the Pudding household but today is Friday, which doesn't just mean it is almost the weekend, it also means it is time for the weekly poker blog round-up.

This week starts with an entry from Poker Grub, a blog from the States entitled, "Bad beats and bad beets." The entry from April 13, written by Poker Grubette, who apparently is "grubby's poker-playing sister representing the left coast" is a bad beat story with a happy ending., albeit one that still raising eyebrows!

She goes on to explain how she witnessed a $100k jackpot being won in a casino when two people playing NL100 ended up all-in with a full house vs quads, triggering the bad beat jackpot there. Whilst this is neither rare nor unusual, the fact the "winner" of the jackpot's job is to sit holding a sign stating he is homeless is! LOL at being able to beg enough to be able to afford to play NL100! I think once I have finished writing this I'm going to make up my own sign and sit at the side of the M621. I should be rolled to play Durrrrr in the next few weeks!

One guy who is rolled to play nosebleed stakes and shouldn't need to go on the scrounge any time soon is Jay "Krantz" Rosenkrantz, one of the most feared NLHE players online. Krantz is one of the founders of training site Deuces Cracked and often posts strategy for free on his blog which is golden.

His post from the end of April, entitled "on poker" whilst not full of strategy does explain why he is no longer playing $200/$400 and has dropped down to $5/$10 and $10/$20. Moving down stakes is sometimes good for players, especially when you are capable of winning over $36k from 11k hands! Must be nice!

I sometimes wonder how certain players have not been snapped up by poker sites and how on Earth some of them managed to bag deals. I read every poker magazine out there and one guy in each one, who apparently is a great pro is "The Dean" who is sponsored by Cake Poker. I sometimes find myself scratching my head at his "strategy" articles and it seems I'm not the only one as many players on 2+2 and Blonde have called him out as being a fish. Anyway, he charges for coaching etc whilst this man, Andy Ward, gives away quality information for FREE on a regular basis.

What makes Andy unique is he is 41-years old, which in a world dominated by spotty 18-year old whizz kids is a refreshing change. He recently posted his analysis of a hand he played in the $100 rebuy on PokerStars and to say it is in-depth is an understatement. How many of you guys perform post-match analysis of hands and situations like this? How many of you make tens of thousands of dollars per month? Probably the same amount of readers who do number one.

Many will agree that poker is a confidence game and one bloke who has confidence in abundance is SNGNik, a 28-year old poker player and coach hailing from the U.S of A. He recently posted a disclaimer on one of his blog posts that reads, "For anyone reading this not quite familiar with me, yes, I am full of myself. More so then you can probably imagine. But, if you had accomplished 1% of what I have, you would be too. So thanks for stopping by and feel honored to have read something that was written by greatness." I'm still not sure whether or not a lot of the bravado is tongue-in-cheek but it makes an entertaining read and he certainly knows what he's talking about as he produces video's for Daniel Negreanu's training site.

Well folks, I'm going to leave it there for now. I started this post at 0300 and after a few distractions it is now almost 0600! Time for a coffee, a bum change (baby not me) and hopefully a couple of hours shuteye!

As always, thanks for reading and best of luck at the tables!

Hi Pud. I started watching SNGNik recently and still haven't worked out if he is being ironic. But as I have a yankee cousin with similarl level of confidence, I suspect it's for real.

    Hi Pud,

Good round up. SNGNik says he plays 40 hours straight 16 games a pop, I suspect that would make most people delusional. He met the President but was in a rush to catch a plane?

Keep posting I enjoy reading your blog. And stay away from the black jack.

About 99% of what I say is in good fun, most people take life to serious, so I like to push their buttons and rile em up.

Glad I stumbled upon this blog, already a big fan!

My cardboard sign which says "I need money for beer and hookers" hasn't netted enough for 100NL games. I'm now seriously considering changing it to state simply that I am homeless. Maybe that would help.
