Well the 2009 World Series of Poker is almost complete with around 2,000 players left in the Main Event all battling it out for the chance of the $8,500,000 first prize and title of World Champion. Of the following bloggers mentioned, one is still in the 'Big Dance' whilst another has been and gone but all the blogs below are more than worth a few minutes of your time.
Imagine the excitement of travelling to Las Vegas to play in the Main Event having won your seat in an online qualifier. Imagine the excitement of checking into your hotel, unpacking your bags and preparing for what could be the trip of a life time. Imagine the horror though when your $10,000 entry fee seems to have been lost in the system just a couple of days before you are due to play in the biggest game of your life!
This happened to popular blogger Pinky, owner of the blog Fish and Chips! Citibank froze his account and left him without the buy-in for the Main Event, a matter that wasn't helped by the fact it was also independence Day in the States! I can only imagine the tress the poor guy was going through but then also the joy as a number of players helped him out by giving him cash in exchange for a poker site transfer. Maybe karma will be on his side as he is through to Day 3, albeit with a short stack. Good luck Pinky.
Although he wasn't playing in Vegas, Ant040689 managed to pit his wits against a seasoned pro whilst in a tournament at the Grosvenor Casino in London. He entered a £330 MTT and found himself at the same table as Willie Tann. After reading the entry it seems Ant played pretty well and was even congratulated on a good call by Tann and I am sure that a huge score isn't too far away for 20-year old Londener.
Another tournament write up now, this time from JonnyBcash. I don't know how I've failed to mention this blog before because the way he writes and describes situations and people is hilarious, even more so because I get the impression it is natural and he's not trying to say things in order to be funny, if you catch my drift. I also think the story ends pretty well, who has ever heard of a 12 way split of a prizepool? LOL!
No strange chops in the next post, just an outright win and some justice IMO. I've read Cheesies blog for a while and was pleased when I read he had just won his first five figure score, $10,309.87 to be exact. Not only was I pleased about the fact he'd won a tidy sum of cash, I was pleased that it was made all the more sweeter by defeating this opponent heads-up who was acting like a total classless idiot. Karma 1, Douchebag 0
Honourable mentions need giving to Joppa Road who was brutally honest about his gambling problem in his recent post, those of you who are offended easily might want to skip the last paragraph though! Shout out also to 147_Star who recently graduated and achieved a 2.1 in Law and finally Ben Grundy, an absolute monster at the PLO tables who is up over $1,500,000 so far this year. Sick!
That's all for now, thanks for reading and have a great weekend!
