It may come as a shock to some but I have fallen behind on my HUSNG challenge, LOL! I did start playing before the New Year and managed to log over 60 games before deciding to start afresh in 2009, mainly for nice, neat records for me.
I played approximately 50 of the $2.20 games and won at a rate of 13% ROI but then jumped up to the $5.25's and lost what I had won in just 10 games by playing like a total idiot if I am entirely honest. Looking through the hand histories, I made a number of ridiculous bluffs that may have worked at the $109 level but were never getting through at the small stakes I am playing.
After a database, spreadsheet and notes reset, I was ready to rock and roll in 2009. January 1 was a washout and I did not play a single heads-up match, not due to hangover but simply because I could not be bothered, maybe playing 60 matches in four days wore me out a little? Anyway, January 2 was simply horrific to me, the official start to my year long challenge and I got owned at the tables, winning just two of my seven matches, including losing three on the spin, to really knock my confidence.
Losing flips really hurts in this game and when villain's flush draws seem to be coming in with alarming regularity, your ROI is going to suffer. I was really down after that session and was actually ready to quit but my mate Cadmunkey phoned me up, we chatted poker and all was good in the world again!
January 3 was kind to me and I won three of my four matches and I was full of confidence but thanks to some connection problems, I did not complete the 8-10 games needed to keep up my target of at least 3,000 HUSNG by December 31, 2009. Connection problems plagued my session on the 4th too although I did go on a tear an win another three in a row before ending my session with two defeats.
As things stand now, I have played a paltry 16 games, have an ITM of 50.0% and a negative ROI of 4.8%, meaning I have lost the kingly sum of $4.00. I will really need to ramp up the volume over the next couple of days as the connection problems of the weekend have eaten into my projected plans somewhat. Also, after some more research, it appears that $25k is a massive target to reach, maybe almost impossible but whatever, I'll leave it at that figure for now.
Before I sign off I need to give a mention to Everton Yorkie. Over the past few months he has really worked hard at his game and it has really started to pay off as he took down the $3 rebuy on Stars for over $7k and then the $11 cubed for $2.5k. Nice won fish, just remember me when you take down the WSOPE Main Event!
As always, thanks for reading and best of luck at the tables!

Thanks for the shout Pud.
I know that you can do this challenge as I remember in the summer when you won about 15HU SnGs in a row and were absolutely owning them, so you have the skills, it's just a case of if you can be bothered to play.
If it makes you feel better I lost $2k in the past 2 days, and am still behind pace for Supernova ;)

Yer I nearly quit last week too mate, but as we both know variance is a bitch! I know we can both make some coinage at this game, just gotta ride the waves!
Swings and roundabouts...meh!
