My biggest score yet
Pud's Poker Progress

Since my last post I have continued to play tournaments and have seen both the positive and negative side of variance. I played my 100th $3.25 45 man game on Saturday dinner time as I didn't get to see Pud Jr so played some poker instead.
I then made the sickest call of my poker career, when I used most of my time bank before calling with TPTK on a draw heavy board, only for the guy to river a set on me.
After the 100 games, I had cashed (ITM) 27% and had an return on investment (ROI) of 49.5% and felt really good about how things were progressing, so much so that I made a post on Raise The River in the "Bad-beats and brags" section. This was to be my downfall as the Poker Gods (amen) decided that it would be fun for me to run into QQ, KK or AA every time I shoved 15BB's or less, which resulted in me only cashing 10 times from the next 78 games, leaving me with an ITM of 22% and an ROI of 18% after I completed 178 games.
Needing a change of pace, but not fancying any cash game or heads-up matches, I decided to play three large-field MTT's and am I glad I did! The first was a $1 with 988 runners but I fell a way short of the money in 206th. Next up was a $6 with 1541 entrants but again I fell short in 648th when my OESD and two over cards missed on the turn and river against the only guy on the table who had me covered.
I was initially struggling to keep afloat but battled away and made sure that every time I acted I had good reasoning behind it, although I made several glaring errors by the time I had finished, I guess that is why I still frequent the low buy-in games. Anyway, with 144 players left and being in the money, I cracked Aces with the kingly hand of Td9d to go second in chips! A few hands later I managed to crack aces again, this time due to pure luck, but I deserved it as I misclick folded a set earlier on so I guess justice was served!
By the third break I was sat 1/79 with a 135k stack and the average being 34,666! First was worth in excess of $1,200 and I started to get a bit giddy about the thought of my largest ever cash. Almost straight after the break I managed to run Queens into Kings and I thought the wheels were falling off the Pudding wagon, however, I then managed to get all in with KK vs JJ in a battle of the blinds to send me to the top of the pile again.
About half hour later I had slipped to 4/19 and was on the table with the top four stacks, although I had position on them and BurnleyMik gave me some encouragement in a thread I started by telling me "No famous Pud blowups" as I am well known for going deep them messing up! I then made the sickest call of my poker career, when I used most of my time bank before calling with TPTK on a draw heavy board, only for the guy to river a set on me.
I came into the final table 4/9 and in with a great chance of winning, especially as hardly any of the villains had winnings stats. Anyway, the Poker Gods (amen) decided now would be a great time to completely cold deck me (at one point I had 72o three times in five hands) and I started to blind away, raising and shoving now and again to keep afloat of the massive blinds and antes.
After more than riding my luck by shoving Q3 (made a full house) and K6o (turned two pairs) I had some justice served on me when my Big Slick was no match for King-Jack and then I made stupid call, which I can't find right now for some reason, to hurt me badly and ended up shoving 8h7h into the big stack's KTo which held and I went home in 4th from 1,300 entrants for my biggest score yet of $406.25.
I'm obviously in a good mood today as the money is much needed, especially with Baby Pud about to make an appearance, hopefully I can start to make frequent scores like I have the skill to do but never put my money where my mouth is. Thanks for the comments in the RTR thread, to Dave Allan and Acorn for railing and others on MSN who gave words of encouragement.
I'll leave it there for now, but as always, thanks for reading and best of luck at the tables.
