For the past week I seem to have lost focus in all directions and have been feeling pretty low. Do not ask my why as I cannot pinpoint a particular reason why I should be feeling down but I have been.
Thinking about it now, as I write, it will not help that I have not been sleeping particularly well of late and although I can get by quite easily on 3-4 hours a night (like Maggie Thatcher!) eventually it catches up with me and I feel rubbish. Actually getting to sleep has been a long standing problem of mine, I often lay for a couple of hours before nodding off, even if I have had hardly any sleep previously.
I have made a few lifestyle changes in order to get a little healthier and I think they may be contributing to my mood as I am a stickler for having routines and habits. I stopped smoking over six months ago, yay me, but have also stopped having a drink during the week now, choosing to have a beer or ten on a Friday or Saturday instead. This was the biggest challenge I have done as for the past 7-8 years, I have always had a beer or two at the end of the day, more out of habit than anything so cracking this is a biggy. So far, so good but I think altering my routine has not helped things.
Stress levels are also pretty high right now as Baby Pud will be making an appearance in the next two months, which anyone who has kids will know, is enough to turn your hair grey! I am looking forward to meeting the little fella, especially as we have seen him on the 4D scan and I feel him kicking the living daylights out of Mrs P all the time!
My HUSNG challenge has gone a little wayward over the past week too. It was not helped by the fact some little toe-rag ripped the phone line off the wall and out of the extension box, leaving me with the internet! By some miracle, BT came out within 24 hours and fixed it, free of charge too, but by that time I had not played for 3 days and could not be bothered to play. To mix things up I decided to play a ton of the turbo double-or-nothing SnG, doing three sessions of 15 tables and essentially breaking even. They are an absolute crapshoot but a good cheap way to let off some steam.
Another reason my HUSNG challenge has gone off course is the fact I have had to reformat my computer for the second time in as many months and lost everything I had on there, including my hand histories and tracking software. This time I managed to give myself a virus whilst following a link to free televised football which I simply could not get rid of so I had to use the system recovery setting to sort things out. Pain in the ass I can tell you.
With that in mind, I am re-starting my HUSNG challenge once I have finished this blog entry. My bankroll is exactly $170.95, which is just enough to play some of the turbo $6.25 games as the $5.25's seem to drag on for too long. I will start by playing just a single table but will progress to two and maybe three in time. I am still aiming for 3-5k games this year and think I will surpass it quite easily and prove the doubters wrong once and for all, even if I do not get anywhere near my ridiculous money target!
Before I sign off I need to give a big congratulations to John Tabatabai who won the Heads-up tournament at the Aussie Millions and also Sorel Mizzi and Annette Obrestad for going uber deep in the Main Event. Go Team Betfair!
Until next time, thanks for reading and best of luck at the tables
