Did you all have a good Christmas? I hope so as the Pudding family had a really enjoyable time, even if it was a long, exhausting day! Things got under way at 0500 in the morning when Step-Pud woke up and refused to go back to sleep so by dinner time he was shattered and in a right mood.
After eating a plate of Christmas dinner that would have been enough to feed a small third-world country, I really wanted an afternoon sleep but instead had to drive around for an hour until Step-Pud dropped off to sleep. Marvellous! In the evening, Step-Pud, Mrs P and I went to mine where my sister and her fiance were coming round for Christmas drinks. Obviously, with me driving I could only have a small drink of port (only at Christmas eh?) but the evening was really nice, I like all the family side of Christmas.
To cap off a great festive period, I actually got to see Pud Jr for 3.5 hours on Boxing Day. With the current situation I have been limited in my visits to him and was pleasantly surprised when I was allowed to stay and play with him for much longer than I usually. The atmosphere at his gran's house was much more relaxed than usual and I really enjoyed running around playing with my little lad. Hopefully, this is the start of something and we can get on with our lives normally.
Now back to poker and this blog. Whenever I have blogged, both here and other blogs, I have always been as truthful as I can in that I give an insight into my life and in relation to poker, my wins and losses. So many blogs only document their owner's big wins and forget about the losses they incur on a daily basis and when they do lose they simply blame bad beats or poor play from their opponents. I openly admit to playing poorly or being outclassed but I guess honesty is not always rewarded.
The last post generated a couple of rather negative comments, one was published, the other was not. The second comment basically said I had and will not ever achieve anything in life and stuff like that. Well one thing I have achieved is getting myself a hater who read my blog and felt compelled to comment in the early hours of Christmas Eve! LOL! Did you miss out on cuddles as a child? Keyboard Warriors, you have got to love them.
Anyway, on the poker front, I have started my HUSNG quest yesterday instead of waiting until Jan 1 as I have had the itch to play and prove the haters and doubters wrong. I can see why people would not take a challenge I set seriously as I have always let them fall by the wayside but this time is different. I am going to learn every aspect of heads-up play, progress and after 3-6 months, if I am a losing player over a good sample size, I will hold my hand up and admit defeat but at least I will have given it a go. By no means am I trying to go professional or anything like that, I just want to be able to climb up in stakes, rebuild some creditability and earn a bit of cash doing something I love.
I am bankrolled for $5.25 games but I have started by playing a number of $2.20 matches as I am still learning and trying out some things at the tables. In order to progress in this game, you need to be willing to try different things, make hero calls etc and I might as well try these things at the lowest stakes possible so the mistakes are less costly. So far, things have progressed pretty well and I have had six wins from nine games for a massive profit of $4.20! This time next year Rodders, I'll be a millionaire! LMAO! Profit is profit at the end of the day and being totally honest, I have not felt even close to uncomfortable playing any of my opponents so far. One thing I have found is there is a lack of interesting hands and it doesn't feel like poker so I may have to play a few NLHE ring games to pass some time.
This will probably be the last post of 2008, unless I manage to squeeze one out towards the end of the week so I will take this opportunity to thanks everyone who has read this blog this year, especially those who have commented and wish you all the very best of luck for the coming year. I sincerely hope it is a great year for you and your loved ones.
You read it here first 2009 will be the year of the Pud!
As always, thanks for reading and best of luck at the tables.

Thanks Rossi and Scott.
I guess when anyone decides to blog they have to be aware there are some people out there who didn't get hugs as kids and need to post negative comments everywhere they visit!
All the best for 2009
