The best bet at Belle Vue this afternoon may well be FAHY BEN (Trap 4) in the tenth race, an A3 at 17:06. The black has won just once this year but has only been out of the first three on two occasions, running consistently well. Most of those efforts have come in A2 grade but he has been given a chance by the grader after a brief spell off the track off colour and his comeback run at the weekend suggested his turn is near.

As we have said many times before handicaps aren't everyone's cup of tea as the staggered starts are often hard to work out, but PHILIROBIN (Trap 5) looks well handicapped in the 18:39 at Sunderland. The selection looks the winner on recent times, but more than that has excellent early speed which ought to see him make the most of the 5-metre start he receives from kennelmate and scratch dog Shelby Bobiden.

Later at Sunderland in the 20:13, KILWEST BELLE (Trap 4) can score another victory in A4 company to add to her win earlier this month. Since then she has finished a good second with an even better effort by our reckoning suggesting she is returning to the sort of form she was in a couple of months ago on which she would take this with a bit to spare.
