Usyk odds-on to defend titles

Oleksandr Usyk is 8/151.53 to defeat Tyson Fury for a second time after a rematch was confirmed to take place in Saudi Arabia on 21 December this year.

Usyk became the first undisputed heavyweight champion in 25 years, and the first in the four-belt era, when he beat WBC champion Fury on a split decision earlier this month.

It had been well publicised by both camps prior to the fight that a rematch clause was in the contract, and that has has now been triggered by Fury's camp.

Will Fury relish being the underdog?

Fury is 6/42.50 to win the fight but being the underdog for the first time since his first fight against Deontay Wilder shouldn't deter the Gypsy King.

Some of Fury's best performances were as an underdog, most notably when beating Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 to claim the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles, and when drawing with Wilder in their first fight in 2018. He then defeated Wilder in their seconf fight when only a marginal favourite in 2020.

It is unlikely that Fury will get the chance to become the undisputed heavyweight champion in the rematch however as the IBF look set to strip Usyk of that title for not fighting a mandatory challenger next. This will mean that the WBC, WBA and WBO titles will be on the line when Usky v Fury II takes place in December.

Speaking on X, Saudi Arabia's general entertainment authority chairman Turkey Alalshikh said, "The world will watch another historical fight again. Our commitment to boxing fans continues. We hope you enjoy it."
