Timeform's Dubai expert, Stephen Molyneux, brings you his best three bets from Meydan on Saturday...
Stall 1 looks perfect for Jawhar and at the very least he should trade a lot shorter in running given his strong-travelling nature...
Dubai Iconic has had no luck with the draw since his impressive winning debut, but that's changed to a degree in the 15:20 and he is taken to resume his progression. He beat three subsequent improvers when scoring on his debut, and has more than held his own in handicap company since then, despite not having anything go his way. He arguably didn't get home over 1m on his next two starts, a lack of stamina compounded by wide draws, and he was again forced to cover extra ground when third to Discoverer last time, still hitting the front 1f out before his earlier exertions told. He should get a much better run through from stall 7 this time and has a lot more potential than anything else in the field.
The 15:55 is a competitive sprint down the straight turf course and one who should offer some value is Muraweg>. He is a multiple winner in Bahrain (on turf) and shaped very well at Meydan back in December when chasing home Ganas, finishing strongly from a poor position. He then faced a stiff task behind Barbecue Eddie in the first round of the Maktoum Challenge, out of his depth but not quite as bad as the final result would suggest having met trouble in running. He returns to handicap company today with Kieren Fallon on board and hopefully he will confirm that initial promise.
The 17:05 is a bit of tale of two who very much caught the eye last time and I am going to side with Jawhar who has a far better draw than what looks to be his main rival, Specific Gravity. Jawhar really improved once fitted with a hood last year, winning his final three starts for William Haggas and he's still got plenty to offer off his mark judged on his latest run when second to the ill-fated Alkimos. He travelled supremely well that day and looked the likeliest winner when sent on over 1f out only to be reeled in by one who came from much further back. Stall 1 looks perfect for him and at the very least he should trade a lot shorter in running given his strong-travelling nature.
