Cape Verdi: Timeform's runner-by-runner guide

Silvestre de Sousa will be aboard Sajjhaa.

Timeform analyse the Group 2 Cape Verdi, staged over a mile at Meydan on Thursday...

"Sajjhaa goes well fresh, and was runner-up in the Middleton Stakes at York for a second year in succession on reappearance in 2012..."

Dark Orchid was lightly raced for Andre Fabre, winning twice last year before running her best race when fourth in a Group 2 event at Deauville. Could easily improve again for this yard.

Amanee was a Group 1-winner in 2011 and built on some creditable efforts last year when landing a Group 2 at Greyville. Clearly capable but needs to put a disappointing reappearance behind her.

Naseem Alyasmeen took her racing well for Mick Channon last year, winning 3 handicaps. Improved in better events since, including when fifth to Sharestan, but ran poorly last week and faces a very stiff task here.

Falls Of Lora won UAE Oaks at Meydan last year and better form when taking Sandown listed event in July. Not disgraced subsequently but even her best leaves her with a bit to find in this.

Spellwork was trained by Andre Fabre last year, winning a minor event a Longchamp in June. Better form when second in a listed contest at Vichy and strikes as the type to do better still for this yard.

Forever Snow made a winning debut in Brazil 12 months ago, far from disgraced subsequently including in graded company. Was disappointing when long odds-on for a minor event at Jagersro last time, however.

First City was consistent for David Simcock in 2011 and probably didn't need to improve when taking this corresponding event 12 months ago. Capable but does have her wellbeing to prove after poor return.

Sajjhaa goes well fresh, and was runner-up in the Middleton Stakes at York for a second year in succession on reappearance in 2012. Not disgraced subsequently and looks the one to beat here.

Timeform 1-2-3
1. Sajjhaa
2. Dark Orchid
3. Spellwork

Timeform Verdict: This looks weak for the grade and it presents Sajjhaa with a good opportunity. She is dropping in trip but has always been a strong-travelling sort and should have too much for her rivals. First City won this 12 months ago but has something to prove after a poor run last time and Dark Orchid and Spellwork, stablemates of the selection, could easily emerge as the main dangers.
