Cox Plate: Timeform's runner-by-runner guide

It's Cox Plate day at Moonee Valley.

Timeform assess the field for the 2013 renewal of the Cox Plate...

"It’s A Dundeel made a pleasing return in the Memsie before scoring a very good win in the Underwood when toppling the well fancied Atlantic Jewel..."

Green Moon finished seventh in this race last year before going on to win the Melbourne Cup. Okay in both runs this time in and would not be surprised to see him in the placings.

Happy Trails keeps producing on the big stage, coming into this off a good win in the Turnbull. Steps out for new yard but has drawn well and cannot dismiss.

Fiorente enjoyed a good win two runs back in the Dato Tan Chin Nam and has been solid in runs on either side. Has not drawn the best but on what he has produced of late looks a danger.

Foreteller got the better of Puissance De Lune in the Makybe Diva three back but was no match for Atlantic Jewel last start. Capable of a big run and wt the odds is worth an each way ticket.

Side Glance resumes here and steps out for his first run in Australia. Drawn to get the rails run but expect he will need the run.

Seville was well held at Caulfield two back but improved last start with a win at Randwick. Place best against these.

Rekindled Interest resumed well when runner up before a moderate showing in the Epsom. Third in this race two years ago but can't enthuse on recent form.

Puissance De Lune looked the winner but was grabbed late when runner up in the Turnbull Stakes last start. All four runs this campaign have been solid and expect him to go close once again.

Masked Marvel has placed in his last two outings but is now out to 777 days without a win. Targeting the Melbourne Cup and is likely to need a bit further.

Mull Of Killough is a UK-trained runner who resumes here off a short spell. Up in the weights and has drawn well but hard to a make a strong case for him fresh.

It's A Dundeel made a pleasing return in the Memsie before scoring a very good win in the Underwood when toppling the well fancied Atlantic Jewel. Is five weeks between runs but is racing well and goes on top.

Super Cool finished third at Caulfield last start but has been disappointing in four runs this preparation. Drawn wide in barrier 14 and happy to oppose in this.

Atlantic Jewel SCRATCHED.

Long John comes into this on the back of a win in the Caulfield Guineas in what was been a good campaign. Down in the weights with only 49.5kgs and is worth some consideration.

Shamus Award finished third in the Guineas behind Long John last start but not sure he can quite measure up against some of these.

Timeform 1-2-3:
1. It's A Dundeel
2. Fiorente
3. Puissance De Lune

Timeform Verdict: It's A Dundeel resumed well in the Memsie before getting the better of Atlantic Jewel in the Underwood. Has not been seen in five weeks but has plenty of ability and he looks the one they have to beat in this. Fiorente has been good in all three runs this time in. Won the Dato two back but is likely to need a bit of luck from the wide draw. Puissance De Lune ticking over well and is next best.
