"...with further progress likely, he is taken to follow up on this nursery debut..."

Timeform on Royal Big Night

5.30 Blue Cap Coffee Apprentice Handicap (6) 6f12y

Timeform Top Rated:
73 9. WILD FLOWER Jimmy Fox Megan Nicholls
72 1. FLOWING CLARETS John Bridger Paddy Bradley
71 4. FRANK COOL Tony Carroll Toby Eley (5)

Analyst's Verdict:
Flowing Clarets, Violet's Lads and Wild Flower are all pretty consistent at this level and are preferred in that order as the first-named runner was a ready winner at this track from just 2 lb higher last autumn.

6.00 Racegoers Club 50th Anniversary British EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes (5) 6f12y

Timeform Top Rated:
94p 11. SHORTER SKIRT Eve Johnson Houghton Charles Bishop
87p 1. AIM POWER Richard Hannon Silvestre De Sousa
60 9. RETICENT ANGEL Clive Cox Adam Kirby

Analyst's Verdict:
Shorter Skirt showed plenty to work on when runner-up in a brace of 6f novice races on the AW last month, and with further improvement on the cards, she ought to take some stopping. Aim Power will know more this time, while Petits Fours is a likely newcomer on paper.

6.30 Prosecco At Venus Wine And Spirits Nursery Handicap (4) 1m31y

Timeform Top Rated:
98p 2. ROYAL BIG NIGHT Mark Johnston Silvestre De Sousa
97 4. DOMBRA Hugo Palmer Josephine Gordon
96? 3. WATER DIVINER Richard Hannon Tom Marquand

Analyst's Verdict:
Royal Big Night continued his record of run-to-run improvement when opening his account at Epsom recently and, with further progress likely, he is taken to follow up on this nursery debut. The soft ground may have been to blame for Dombra's below-par display behind Greeley at Newmarket and Hugo Palmer's charge may well reverse the placings with that rival under these conditions.

7.00 MPM Flooring Handicap (3) 1¼m

Timeform Top Rated:
101 7. BATHSHEBA BAY Richard Hannon Tom Marquand
100 1. CONTANGO Andrew Balding Oisin Murphy
99 2. NOBLE GIFT William Knight Callum Shepherd

Analyst's Verdict:
The vote goes to Bathsheba Bay, who wasn't disgraced in a competitive Glorious Goodwood handicap 11 days ago and faces a less taxing assignment here. Unexposed Godolphin colt Midnight Meeting is armed with potential ahead of this handicap debut and has to be feared. However, he's likely to be plenty short enough in the betting and Contango may be the one to mount the biggest challenge.

7.30 Brian Wilson Live On August 26th Handicap (5) 1¼m

Timeform Top Rated:
88 3. SICARIO Jamie Osborne Tom Marquand
85 10. SKY ROCKET Sylvester Kirk David Egan
85 5. SHOW OF FORCE Jonathan Portman Rob Hornby

Analyst's Verdict:
With improvement on the cards now that he's pitched into a handicap, Buckland Boy could be the answer. He stepped up on his low-key debut when fifth in a big-field novice event here in May and shaped better than the bare result at Kempton next time. Sicario has raised his game since going up in trip and looks dangerous, while C&D winner Couldn't Could She is also on the shortlist.

8.00 Fireworks Spookfest Launching Soon Novice Stakes (5) 5f21y

Timeform Top Rated:
95 2. DUBAI SILK Robert Cowell Oisin Murphy
91p 3. INDIAN TYGRESS James Fanshawe George Wood
52 4. MAXIMUM POWER Tim Pinfield Martin Dwyer

Analyst's Verdict:
It was disappointing to see Indian Tygress turned over on the AW last month, given how promising she looked when making a winning debut at Doncaster. However, she remains open to improvement and is preferred to Dubai Silk, who lowered the colours of some decent types over C&D in May. The market should be revealing with regard to the prospects of newcomers Poyle George Two and Maid of Spirit.
