Timeform on Convict
Convict - 14:05 York
Convict hails from a family that revels in the mud and his half-brother Hamish bolted up at the course on Friday. The William Haggas-trained Convict has a way to go if he is to emulate the achievements of Hamish, who sluiced up off a mark of 98, but he has made a promising start, getting off the mark at the third attempt at Redcar last month. He won that 7f maiden in impressive fashion, quickening well to score, and he looks sure to benefit from this step up in trip and stiffer test of stamina.
Repetitio - 14:10 Chepstow
Repetitio sets the standard but it is not an especially high one and he could prove vulnerable. He was surprisingly wayward at Market Rasen last time for a horse making his fourth start over hurdles and he may struggle to give 6lb to Sir Psycho, who was fairly useful on the Flat and has joined Paul Nicholls' powerhouse yard. This is a race in which Nicholls has a good record, winning four of the last nine editions.
Lampang - 14:40 York
3 - Tim Easterby's number of winners in past 9 runnings
Tim Easterby has an excellent record in this race and tends to target his better juveniles at the contest. In Lampang he looks to have one of his finest juvenile prospects for many a year, and the exciting son of Dandy Man can extend his unbeaten record to three. He created a taking impression when bursting onto the scene at Catterick and built on that when scooting five lengths clear at Ripon. He can take this step up in class in his stride.
