A Barney Curley runner has attracted the attention of The Brigadier...

15:55 Lingfield - LAY - Faraday (Forecast - 2.74)

Today's race is the 15:55 at Lingfield, it's a class 6 handicap over 1 mile 4 furlong. Faraday is forecast favourite, trained by Barney Curley and ridden by Tom Queally.

But this Faraday has won just the one race from 14 attempts and that was in a pathetic class 7 classified race over 9 furlongs at Wolverhampton. He was beaten fair and square off today's mark of 48 in a Kempton handicap last time over 1 mile 2 furlong.

He is stepping up in trip today, the only previous time he raced over this trip he was 12th out of 13, beaten by 39 lengths. This useless cretin isn't straightforward and can sometimes hang in his races and wander around under pressure.

No doubt the Racing Post Spotlighter will state that a market check is essential with a Barney Curley runner (they write it for every single runner he has), however I find that the market is no guide and virtually all of his runners are erratic in the market drifting and shortening and then drifting again before shortening again (or vice versa).

As far as Im concerned the stable is one of the easiest to read in UK racing, if it's a class 7 classified race his horse is highly likely to win, if it's a handicap his horse is highly likely to be beaten, forget the market checks as they will just leave you in a state of confusion.

It's an open race with 16 runners declared but I will be laying the cretinous rogue Faraday.
