13:30 Ludlow - LAY - Soviet Sceptre (Forecast - 2.84)

Today's race is the 13:30 at Ludlow, it's a class 5 selling hurdle over 2 miles. Soviet Sceptre is forecast favourite, trained by Evan Williams and ridden by John Flavin.

But my oh my! This race brings together some of the most ghastly hurdlers in training and no horse is more ghastly than the cretinous favourite Soviet Sceptre.

Soviet Sceptre is a maiden over hurdles after 11 races and nine of those races were at this lowly seller level. The last time this horse won a race was in July 2005 in a low grade flat race.
This will be his fifth race in just 27 days and he fell in his last effort just four days ago.

Jockey John Flavin has had 14 previous rides for Evan Williams without success and has never ridden a course winner.

It looks a tough race to call the winner but I will be laying the atrocious Soviet Sceptre.

Today's lay finished first
