Ryan Moore's return to race riding gathers pace at Newmarket today with the possibility of four mounts at HQ. Read his exclusive thoughts below...
"Even a reproduction of that form puts her in the mix here and her earlier Doncaster win over this trip and a nursery win off 89 at the July course puts her in with a leading chance as well."
14:15 Newmarket - The Gold Cheongsam
Didn't get the run of the race when last home in the Cheveley Park, and in any case she was only beaten under five lengths anyway in a messy, tactical race. Even a reproduction of that form puts her in the mix here and her earlier Doncaster win over this trip and a nursery win off 89 at the July course puts her in with a leading chance as well. Badr Al Badoor is a horse I quite like and she is 4lb better off for the 1 ¼ lengths she was beaten by Victrix Ludorum here a fortnight ago, and she holds fair form claims along with Graphic Guest and Newbury winner Penny Rose. Ed's Concise won nicely at Kempton last month but she has a fair bit to find if the form horses run up to their mark.
15:20 Newmarket - Burke's Rock
As you can see, this is a very tight and trappy handicap. I don't know what happened to Burke's Rock when she only beat one home at Sandown last time but if she turns up in the same form as when winning for me at Windsor in August, then she won't be far away off just a 6lb higher mark.
I don't know what my plans are at the time of writing in these races but it is possible that I could ride Vow and Ultrasonic. As many horses do, Vow didn't run up to form at Royal Ascot after running at Epsom, but I am sure she will have been sweetened up by her break and clearly has a fair shout on her Oaks fourth. Ultrasonic faces a strong field in the 6f listed race - I was quite taken by Hezmah's win off a mark of 92 here last time, and she is a lovely big filly - but she ran well when second to Mince at Pontefract last time and has a win and place chance.
