On Sunday afternoon Ryan Moore crosses the Channel for a big ride at Longchamp. Here the Betfair Ambassador discusses his ride and his main rivals...
"I think Aidan has had this race in mind for Rhododendron for a while, but this is a big ask first time up, given the quality of opposition."
Cracksman the one to beat in excellent Ganay
This is obviously a red-hot renewal of the Ganay. Cracksman is the obvious one to beat on his tremendously impressive Champion Stakes win, but he will have to be pretty straight to cope with the Arc runner-up Cloth Of Stars, who won this race last season and comes here fit from decent efforts in Dubai. And then you have the Prix Niel third Finche, the in-form Air Pilot and my filly, Rhododendron.
I imagine Rhododendron will improve for the run, but she was a tremendously versatile and high-class filly last season and was maybe a touch unlucky not to follow up her soft-ground L'Opera win with a Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf victory at Del Mar. I think Aidan has had this race in mind for her for a while, but this is a big ask first time up, given the quality of opposition. I imagine Cracksman will be the strong favourite here, and probably rightly so after what we saw at Ascot.
