Betfair Ambassador Ryan Moore has a busy afternoon at Lingfield today with seven booked rides at the track. Here he talks exclusively about the chance's of each...
Ryan Moore on Nevis;
"But, as we have seen again at Chester this week, you underestimate Aidan's horses in these Classic trials at your peril."
13:45 Lingfield - Red Oasis
Don't know anything about him to be honest. I suppose you could be negative about the fact that he wears a visor first time up, but then again you don't know the background to that decision. His pedigree is all speed and the stable get juvenile winners, so let's see how we get on. There are a couple in here with a fair level of form, though.
14:20 Lingfield - Heroine Required
I think Secret Gesture and Miss You Too are the two to beat in here. But Heroine Required made a pleasing debut in heavy ground at York last season and may have bumped into a decent sort in Havana Cooler at Ripon on her reappearance. She is fully entitled to take her chance in this trial, and William wouldn't be running her if he didn't think she could give a good account of herself. But she does have a bit to find, admittedly.
14:55 Lingfield - Nevis
Greatwood is top on official figures in here and he probably is the one to beat; his narrow second to Windhoek in a Tattersalls sales race was franked when the winner won next time. But, as we have seen again at Chester this week, you underestimate Aidan's horses in these Classic trials at your peril. He may have disappointed in the National Stakes behind Dawn Approach but the fact that he was sent off the 9-2 second favourite possibly tells you that wasn't his true running. He had earlier won a 1m soft ground Leopardstown maiden in impressive fashion and is bred for this trip, being out of the Irish Oaks winner Moonstone.
15:25 Lingfield - Vasily
Won twice over 1m4f at Windsor last season, and came back to form when a good third over this trip at Epsom last time. Looks to have a fair chance in a wide open race, but he has gone up 2lb since Epsom and he probably wouldn't want it to turn too testing. I think a couple of more unexposed horses in here will prove better handicapped than him, to be honest. But let's hope not, and the fact that he is a front-runner on this track is no bad thing.
16:00 Lingfield - Ultrasonic
I wouldn't have said that this track is ideal but any rain will help and, in common with our fillies, she has been going nicely at home. She won well in the soft at Newmarket last July but then was unlucky not to win when stepped up to listed company afterwards, finishing runner-up three times in that grade over 6f. I have seen stronger Group 3s than this and I'd be pretty confident that she can go close. She has form on fast and slow ground.
16:35 Lingfield - Jack Of Diamonds
I seem to have quite a good record when riding for Roger, so let's hope that run continues here. This horse has run a couple of cracking races over 7f here on the all-weather this season, just touched off on both occasions, and he is able to race off a 3lb lower mark returning to turf today. So he has a fair bit going for him. His style of racing means that he will always need luck though.
17:10 Lingfield - Ortac Rock
Was a decent sort at two, but then had a year off. Looks to have disappointed on his first two runs back but there was much more promise in his third over 7f here on the all-weather last time. If building on that run, then he has definite chances in what is obviously a very open 16-runner handicap. And I'm very happy with being drawn right on the fence in 16, too.
