14:30 Royal Ascot - Red Lodge

Red Lodge can provide trainer Wesley Ward with another Royal winner.

This filly beat Made You Look in a Maiden Special Weight on the turf course at Belmont last month. She closed in to a blistering first quarter of 21.3, and pulled clear to win with complete authority. I thought that was a fantastic effort from this progressive individual. This looked like a pretty decent race with all the top trainers represented.

She appears to have tactical speed, and will have every assistance from John Velazquez who knows this course well. At present she is trading at 8.07/1 on the exchange which is more than fair.

Global Applause is the favourite at 3.412/5. He was a Listed race at Sandown in good style and merits consideration. His price is a little thin considering he is unproven on the ground.

15:05 Royal Ascot - Blue De Vega

I think Blue De Vega can defy a penalty in this intriguing contest.

This colt finished a decent third to Awtaad in the Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh last month. He kept on pretty well in the closing stages, and was not disgraced behind the easy winner. He brings a solid level of form to the table, and should be suited by the extra yardage.

He is trading at 6.05/1 on the exchange and I have backed him at this price.

Royal Artillery is worth mentioning. He won a Doncaster maiden in great style at Doncaster last year, but disappointed behind Zonderland in the Heron Stakes at Sandown. This well related colt appears to be a little quirky, but does have ability and could run in to a place.
