Two backs and one lay as ever from the Follow The Money crew. We're at Royal Ascot and Newmarket this afternoon.
Today's Follow The Money movers come from the cards at Royal Ascot and Ayr.
We start at the Royal meeting and the 1m 4f Hardwicke Stakes at 15:05. Confident support has been noted for Aiken who has moved from 6.7 in to 5.04/1. He has won the last six races he has contested, on ground ranging from Good to Heavy, including a gutsy performance three weeks ago in the Group 2 Grand Prix De Chantilly. Market rival Sea Moon has drifted a full point in the betting this morning, which can also perhaps be viewed as a positive for backers of Aiken. Hailing from the all powerful and very much bang in-form John Gosden yard and with stable jockey William Buick on board, it's easy to see why the money is down, and he can be viewed as a positive selection.
We are off to Newmarket for the day's negative in the class 4 Fillies' Handicap due off at 15:10. Godolphin's Punita has been drifting from an early 2.767/4 out to 3.814/5. The winner of just an ordinary race on her only start, she has since been off the track for 291 days and may strip fitter after this race. Undoubtedly well-bred, she may be worth taking on first time out this season with such little market confidence.
Top hat firmly back on, as we go back to Berkshire for the 28 runner six furlong cavalry charge that is the Wokingham Stakes at 16:25 for today's other positive. Lightning Cloud has been a warm order for this, having been backed from highs of 19.5 in to a still very tempting 10.09/1. Kevin Ryan's charge was also entered for yesterday's Buckingham Palace stakes, so it may be significant that he swerved that race and sneaked into this off bottom weight. The stiff six furlongs are expected to suit and though this is not a race for the faint of heart, Lightning Cloud has a decent chance at a still tasty price.
