Time to lay the Grey as he comes up against younger rivals

16:00 Uttoxeter - LAY - Scots Grey (Forecast 3.25)

Today's race is a class 3 handicap hurdle over two-and-a-half miles. Scots Grey is forecast favourite trained by Nicky Henderson and ridden by Marcus Foley.

Grey is about right, as this is a 12-year-old and this old-timer is surely going to be exposed by the younger generation today.

He has been running in hunter chases since March 07 which is a more suitable type of race for a slow plodder like Scots Grey. He hasn't ran over hurdles since March this year and was alway's a better chaser. He ran well below form when last seen and the tired old boy should probably be retired. Racing off 116 today a mark that is 8lb higher than his best ever hurdles win he should struggle in this.

Gold Gun and Basic Facts should run big races but my bet is the lay of the OAP.

* The Brigadier's lay finished first
