I'll be making a Pointe of this one
15:40 Towcester - LAY - Bermuda Pointe (Forecast - 1.91)
Today's race is the 15:40 at Towcester, it's a class 4 novice handicap chase over 2 mile 3 1/2 furlongs. Bermuda Pointe is the forecast favourite trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies and ridden by Paddy Brennan.
Bermuda Pointe has won 40 per cent of his races and has a 100% record at Towcester with two wins from two runs, however the horse is a cretinous wretch and is devoid of any talent and I for one am not scared of taking him on.
He is a better horse fresh with his two wins coming on his debut run and then his first run for 10 months. Having been given just 11 days to recover from his seasonal debut, he is likely to run flat and below form today.
In the race he won last time five of the nine runners fell and the SPs of the only other finishers were 14/1, 25/1 and 66/1. He has a 7lb penalty today for beating trees last time.
He is stepping up in trip today and on the two occasions he ran over a similar trip he was unplaced and is likely to find it hard work at the business end.
Bermuda Pointe also likes to front run but with three other possible front runners in the field then it's possible they could burn each other out and set this race up for one of the hold-up horses.
It's an open looking race and I will be laying the ludicrously priced layabout Bermuda Pointe.
Today's lay finished second
