Though Paul was half-tempted by the Betfair Fixed Brush Hurdle, Big Buck's owner Andy understandably decides to stick with the tried-and-trusted route of Newbury
"Big Buck's bids for a fourth consecutive win in the race later this month."
I have literally just had a chat with Andy Stewart at Cheltenham, and we have decided to go down the tried-and-trusted route with Big Buck's and he goes to Newbury later this month, as opposed to Haydock.
The entry in the Fixed Brush Hurdle on Betfair Chase Day was only ever tentative, as I said at the time. In this game, you have to give yourselves options.
And we looked at Haydock.
I think he would have had no problems with the style of hurdles there, and it was interesting to hear that Timeform would have had him top-rated by upwards of 3lb had he gone for the race.
I was half-tempted by Haydock but Andy was understandably keen to stick to Newbury, so we begged to differ to some extent.
So it was Andy's call, and he bids for a fourth consecutive win in the race later this month.
As, and as you saw from his racecourse gallop at Exeter on Wednesday, he will go there in good form.
